So, you know how the city has been going through hell lately with riots and murders and such?
Totally about to get worse.
Basically, for the last several months, Ophelia has been quietly rebuilding her army here in the city. She's been doing it very much on the down low. Illidan gave her the idea, when he told her about creating the Sunwell here in the city using a trace of it from home. Ophelia, using the fact that she is basically a font of black tears, has been converting small pools of water into tiny versions of the Sea of Black Tears back home, and then using that pool to power a handfull of Tear Drinkers. She's been drawing people from the city, generally gang bangers, drug dealers, prostitutes, that sort of thing...people who are willing to take a chance on a lot of power...and making them into her army. Despite their origins, they are entirely loyal to her, and will fight and die for her.
She's had these pools all over the city now, each one powering ten or fifteen tear drinkers, which is where the recent undercurrent of 'new' magic beneath the normal magic and the sunwell magic came from.
She wasn't going to make her move for a while, but...the riots gave her a chance she just couldn't pass up. While they were going on, she moved into Central Park and converted pretty much all the bodies of water there into black tear pools and doubled the size of her army. Which...is a bit too big to hide now, really.
But she does't want to. She's going to make her play now!
Welcome to the third Black Tear Rebellion.
(but what does this mean for me?)
Ophelia is going to attempt to take over the city...mostly for fun, really, and just to see if she can. She'll have a base of operations that will be a giant black goth metal war stage sitting near the sunwell in central park, guarded by tear drinkers, and her soldiers will be wandering the city in squads attempting to secure things that look valuable and generally just causing panic.
Now, this is going to take place over three days. On day one (Wednesday), Ophelia is going to make a typically smug announcement on the network, and then basically invade the rest of the city. About half her army will be heading out into the city, squad-style, to cause their panic and secure areas under their control.
These squads are free targets, anyone can fight and defeat them, and will consist of the following:
5 - 6
Grave Diggers - These are basically evil goth metal mimes. They're melee fighters, using shovels, pickaxes, parking meters, anything big and heavy, and they are hard to kill. You basically have to dismember them to kill them, or just cause such significant trauma that they fall apart. They're undead.
2-3
Brides - Brides are floating ghostly women with blacked out faces covered in veils, and wearing ruined wedding dresses. They carry once-beautiful white umbrella's, and everywhere they go they create a dark storm cloud that hovers overhead causing rain and also making people who aren't members of the drowning doom feel absolutely slow and miserable while they're under them. Think of it as a portal misery fog of war. They aren't particularly dangerous outside of the fog, they're only attack is a short range lightning bolt from the clouds they create, they mostly rely on the defense of the other soldiers. If they're killed quickly, everything else gets easier. Like the gravediggers, they are undead and fall apart as they are killed.
1 -
Ratgut - Ratguts are tall, gangly infantry with giant, distended stomachs...full of rats. When they're attacked, they unleash the rats on whomever they are fighting, and the little buggers are about as dangerous as a normal swarm of rats. The ratgut himself attacks with long arms and legs, and is moderately powerful. Once he dies, the rats die or scatter.
And occasionally there will be:
1 -
Lightning Rod - These are giant cars driven by condemned prisoners who are constantly being electrocuted. They channel the lightning from their execution into giant bolts of lightning that...well. Hurt. They also try to run people over with their cars. The inside of the car is protected by a thick electrical barrier that will knock people backwards unless they have some way of channeling it. Killing them involves either ripping them from their car, or doing enough damage that the car itself stops working.
These are the people on death row that Ophelia kidnapped. There are only a few of them available for random killing. Four more will be used for plot events. If someone wants to fight one of these, let me know! I'm not going to worry too much about exact numbers but I don't want to go crazy about them. Ophelia needs four for specific things.
Anywhere these groups go, heavy metal rock music will be playing in the air. Generally from
this list. Anything listed as the 'Drowning Doom' for allegiance can be playing where Ophelia's minions are.
Now these groups can't be taken down alone. People will have to team up for these! There will be a thread down below where people can organize groups and stuff!
Another option. If people can track down some of the hidden Black Tear pools, and destroy them, squads of soldiers will lose their power. So, two ways to fight these guys. The pools are in places in the sewers, in abandoned warehouses, in bathtubs strung together in junky buildings, they can be almost anywhere that can hold a small but decent amount of water.
Later on Day One, Ophelia is going to show up at City Hall with about fifty tear drinkers (made up of the three groups listed above), plus two of the lightning rods and a giant
Tree Back. It's a huge evil tree. Ophelia will be sitting in the branches directing the battle, and using a swarm of crows to fight people. Presumably imports and the police will show up to defend city hall. After a couple hours of battle, assuming the PC's are winning, Ophelia will retreat on a giant black goth
dirgible. Yes, that's a misspelled blimp. Because Dirg is hardcore.
DAY 2.
Ophelia's squads will be hunkering down throughout the city, as their numbers are starting to lower, she's going to try something a bit different and just begin securing zones around the park itself. Basically, move into a block, take it over, secure it, and then move on. Less chaos, more...method. The fighting here will be more about taking defensive positions or forcing her soldiers to retreat than actually destroying them or preventing them from causing havok. There will also still be squads throughout the city, and pools for people to destroy.
Her soldiers will begin creating new pools as well, or trying. Ophelia will be all around the city, helping to create these pools and try to make more soldiers. So people can run into her and fight her, but she'll most likely retreat. This whole day is mostly run-and-gun battles and securing stuff, and slowly draining Ophelia's army...and leads into...
Day 3
Ophelia is going to pull back with her remaining troops and secure the park, convincing Illidan to help her (such a brilliant idea). So, basically, all the fighting here will be in and around the park itself, as her soldiers attempt to defend her and the stage. This is when fighting Ophelia will come into play!
She's very powerful when she's on her battle stage, especially considering how close it is to the Sunwell, but there are two ways to stop her. Killing her, flat out, or destroying her stage. Destroying her stage is hard, but not impossible...it can survive a meteor hit though. Killing her is just a matter of getting through her soldiers and her power, and actually killing her.
The battle with her will consist of Ophelia, Illidan (I think), her Tree Back, thirty or forty of her soldiers, and two more Lightning Rods and six
reapers. They're basically horse calvalry with scythes. There will be a sign up for that too!
Once Ophelia is defeated (killed, frankly) the Tear Drinkers who are still alive will be released from the tears and revert back to normal. Except for the Lightning Rods, they'll die in their cars. Whatever is remaining of her tools (the blimp, the stage, the Lightning Rod cars) is free picking for people. And thusly the third Black Tear Rebellion will end just as badly as the first two.
