"As the story goes," Clair began, "seven mighty creatures crossed the stars and arrived to a barren, lifeless world. With the unique abilities these creatures possessed, they created their own utopia.

"We know these seven as Kyogre, Ho-oh, Lugia, Deflamosa, Groudon, Rujun, and Rayquaza. Kyogre flooded the world with water, Groudon churned the earth to produce vegetation. Rayquaza breathed air into the atmosphere, and Deflamosa charged it with electricity to create storms and other weather. Ho-oh cast the sun upon the world, and Lugia harnessed the power of the moon to move the watery currents to its will, turning the earth to equal the night and day. And finally, Rujun gave the sprouting life a method of communication, that no one can hear."

She pointed to a place on the mural. "If you would please give this spot your attention, note how it depict Lugia and Ho-oh's devotion to each other. That their love created humans and pokemon alike."

"I know this, dear," said Karen testily.

"Yes, well." Clair cleared her throat. "But what the ryuujin believe is that Rayquaza one day shook his body and his scales shed, and those scales fell to the earth, only to become the ancestors of the three main clans of ryuujin. This is what sets us apart from the rest of you.

"Now, Rujun not only created the psychic phenomenon a low percentage of people possess, but it stirred up the prophet in even fewer. And the prophets concocted the grand-scale destinies the world would face. All things predestined to the point it cannot be rewritten, is Rujun's doing, and not even the great power of Lugia's psychic side could change the outcome.

"In fact, Rujun created its own offspring. The Regi golems, Lucario, Lucefix, Jiraachi, the Lati race, Celebi, the Mew species... One prophet claimed Rujun created the Mew to serve a greater, more horrific purpose. Who knows what that meant, though. Scholars once predicted the Mew would cause a great calamity, but with their recent extinction, it's being reasearched further."

"So what does this have to do with--"

Clair repressed a glare. "Getting there. Now, recently a new prophet came to our attention, in the last twenty years, so my father says. She claimed a world-wide tragedy would occur, and the tears of the world would revive the fallen. She also hinted she prophesized something else, back fifteen years we assume, but she's not talking about it. Says it was meant for one man alone, and he already heard it."

"She talks a lot about tears and the sadness, indicating more than one global events will make everyone mourn. The point is, Karen," she emphasized, "that I'd rather you not go home and start declaring war on the Kikyou monks, when it was your idea to let us travel with you."

"You should have--!"

"And if I'd confessed who he was, you would have blown your lid! Face it, you hate Kikyou as much as your grandmother does."

"We still have a reason," Karen hissed. "It was Lugia who tore the pair apart; it was the one that grew too bitter, too hateful. Hated the humans and chose the pokemon to support. Ho-oh still loves both."

"...And you think the monks follow the same story?"

"It doesn't matter, they're wrong!"

"Of course. They must be wrong, because you say so."

"Do not--"

"I will, Karen! The teachings of both sects are meant to make you hate one another, because Lady Enju and Lady Kikyou couldn't stand each other. What was the sect called before the split? Do you know?!"

Karen glowered venomously and kept her lips shut tight.

"It was called the Helibar Order. They don't teach you that anymore, do they?"
