I was just talking to my coworker Robert about movies. I was expressing my joy at not having seen a comic book movie since Rich and I split up in 2006 and said how happy I was that I will never have to see one again for as long as I live.
That led to me telling Robert this:
Rich, as many of you know, is a huge, HUGE comic book/comic film fan.
So then this last spring I briefly dated a guy who is the part owner of a comic book store.
And THEN this summer I went out with a guy who worked for DC Comics in the mid-90s AND THEN WROTE A COMIC THAT
WAS DUE TO BE PUBLISHED BY MARVEL EPIC before they pulled the imprint and canceled the project.
Robert said, "You know what your next step is, right?"
I said, "Yeah, to date Neil Gaiman." (Although if
Grant Morrison called, I wouldn't say no. Oooh, shiny.)
He said, "No. Your next step is to actually date a superhero. But you'd never know if you were or not."
Oh great. I guess I better give someone a spare key to feed the cats when I get kidnapped by supervillians.
