Things that terrify me that I will most likely never encounter, northern edition:
Avalanches. Oh my goodness. I'm reading a book called The White Death by McKay Jenkins. I now know the many, many ways snow can kill me. Depth hoar, slabs, bowls, cornices-snow is Serious Business. Add avalanches to alligators, cholera and the apocalyse in the list of things to keep me up at night.
