Yaz is touring! Not the Red Sox guy, the 80's synthpop band. The soundtrack to sophomore year Friday nights. I can feel the vodka-and-twister, marijuana, blinky christmas lights in Jon and Augie's room-induced spins all over again.

I FUCKING KNOW. Somehow my concert calendar missed this one and I found out about it the afternoon of. I was 13 when they disbanded. My memories are of my friend C (who is 6' tall) walking up and down campus with a fricking boombox on her shoulder and Don't Go following us up and down the hill.

I did some looking up last week. I'd forgotten about the strong DM tie, duh.

Vince Clarke - Erasure (1985-Present)

In 1980 singer David Gahan was drafted in to complete the line up and the band was re-named Depeche Mode. The band initially adopted a slick synthesised electropop sound, which produced the album Speak and Spell and the Clarke-penned singles "Dreaming of Me", "New Life" and "Just Can't Get Enough" in 1981. Clarke left Depeche Mode shortly thereafter. There were many rumoured reasons pertaining to his departure, but the one that is most commonly said and that he's admitted to was because he did not enjoy the direction that the band was going ( ... )
