my life lately... an update
So in the last I wrote I wsa busy, and I've gotten even busier lately. Friday after I last posted I had ended up packing and getting things accomplished. Then Amy came over at like 10 pm and we talked and talked and she liked my new place. Then Saturday I spent all day waiting for my furnature to arrive. They were late by 3 hours. I had read 3 books by then. And then went over by the grandparents and saw the uncle and cousins. We had a nice bbq and then over to mums for the night. Sunday I packed a bit, did some chores and then people came over for a bbq. Got to see Elyse and Jeff and the cousins and family and everything. They all got to meet Magnus who was not a happy camper about meeting people but he was alright about it. Afterwards we played boardgames and then I loaded up my car and they followed me over to my place where they got to see my place. I have a couch now and a bed and all the rest so it was a lot to see. They left, I read a bit and then sleep. Monday mum took off work and went downtown with them and I went to work and was kinda productiveish. Then a storm came in and I went to meet them for dinner. The storm came in and lots of power outages but not by us, instead the phones went 'ka-poof' and stopped working. hmm. Tuesday I went over by Amy's place for the night and we had popcorn for dinner and watched the Lost Boys movie (not the good one but the new one that was straight to dvd.) (it was okay. Not as bad as I thought it would be and if I wasn't such a fan of the first (or had not seen the first) I think I would have liked it more.) Wednesday was work work work and Thursday was much the same except I got my bed frame in and put together and afterwards mum, bob and I went to eat at the irish place and I got alcohol. Friday was a disaster. Busy busy busy at work then mum calls asking me to get 'bolt cutters' We had a pod that had the rest of my furnature and the combination to the lock had been forgotten. So I arrive and we had gotten some company of movers to help. Well they were cheep and you ge what you pay for I guess. Only one of the movers showed up... 45 minutes late. He started moving some things, such as one side piece of the entertainment centre, the dresser, and then the main piece of the entertainment centre managed to get about halfway up the stairs when it imploded in on itself and the entertainment centre was no more. We spent the time cleaning it up and then managed to get the second end piece upstairs. See, the entertainment centre was in three pieces, two roundish end display case peices then the larger middle part. Well now we have the two end pieces and we're gonna just get some boards and make a pretty thing from it. See, have you ever heard about 'the secret'? it's a book. Basically the whole point is positive thinking gets you stuff. And mum's a big fan of it, and it works in real wierd ways. Like we had wanted to go to New York and our flight got delayed and we had a day in new york. Mum wanted a digital camera and my camera battery charger went awol and we had to get another one. See? Things just happen, sometimes in ways you're not expecting. I kept thinking I didn't really want the entertainment centre. It was old and old-fashioned looking, it was a bit big and clunky and I wasn't thrilled with it... so it implodes in on itself! And now we're left with the things I actually didn't mind to begin with. See? See how that happens? It's the secret! After all the stuff had been cleaned up and moved mum and I went to eat and there was a large arlington heights downtown fair with stands from the local businesses and music and food. it was nice to see what was available. Also we met a neighbour. He's Polish and we got to talk about Poland. Yay Poland!
Saturday was spent packing and then Magnus had his hair cut... he was not happy about getting it but he looked so cute when he came out. He's so thin! And strippity! You couldn't see it with all the hair but his sides are striped like a tiger! He looks adorable... but I really miss the fur so I think it was fun to try once but I'm ready for it to grow back... Mag seems to not mind it at all actually.
Sunday I packed more and moved almost all my things to the house, including Mr. Magnus. I've gotten into the habit now of calling him 'Mag-pie' because I call him Mag and it just developed into Magpie. Amy and Tom came by to drop off a tv, a bench, some shelves, and dishes from my grandparents place. They met Magpie. Then Chris came over and we talked for a while too. Amy and Tom went home Chris, mum and I went to eat and then home to talk for a while before they went off home and I had the house to myself. Played on the computer a while and then to bed. Mag seems to really like the new place so far. Got everything ready and went upstairs to get ready for bed. Read a book for a while, listened to some music and then I hear noises. A door opening and closing, foot steps, footsteps up the stairs, real loud. and yet the hall light was off, the door downstairs was locked... I can hear the neighbours next door walking around. So loud that it actually really sounds as if someone is in my place! It took me ages for fall asleep. And when I did I got woken up my Magnus meowing like his life depended on it! He was lost and couldn't find me (I closed my door so he had to go through the bathroom door and didn't know the way) he came up by me and he was wired up. Meowing, purring, wanting me to pet him, wanting me to look at stuff, wanting me to play and everything. He kept coming in and out of the room occationally, waking me up. So I didn't sleep well last night.
This morning was nice to get dressed and leisurely get ready before going out to work. Boss D. was in already and we sat and talked with him and J. the inventory guy and it was nice. I did get some things done and now I'm pacing myself because if I don't everything will be done by 1 and I'll have 4 hours after that of sitting and doing nothing. Meeting mum for lunch in a few at the vietimese place. Should be nice.
So, yeah, I'm officially moved in. Sure, there's a few things that I still have at mum's place but for the most part I'm officially there at my place from now on. I need to go shopping for food. And then tomorrow sometime in the afternoon dad and beth are coming in. They're gonna see my work place and then see the house and we're going to dinner and then they're staying over by me and leaving sometime in the morning. It should be nice.
