My dad has a serious drinking problem and causes him to be horribly violent when tanked. He left the house when I was around 7 or 8 to carry on an affair with another woman. When this exploded in his trademark violence, Mum took pity on him and let him come back home to live in our garage.
It was all bullshit to me at the time, but I had to deal with it since I was still living at home, couldn't do early graduation, and would've rather peeled off my skin and rolled about in some salt.
So anyway, we put up with him and his drinking until it started getting much worse and resulted in a lot of incidents. Most of them were reported except for one incident when we when had to leave for my sister's graduation from UCLA and we needed money to get up there.
This was a week before I left for Dominguez and he actually had the nerve to ask me for a hug before we drove off. And it wasn't until a month later (I left last year in June), that he had put her in the hospital. It took the police three days to find and arrest him since he took her car. He was charged with attempted murder, among other things.
You'd think that this would've been a open and shut case, but he was actually allowed to plea bargain it, and he now has rehab. And divorce papers to give to her.
