Sometimes the only thing that connects us to people is a selfish compassion to know that they're not alone. Sometimes you just need to be there, with somebody for their sake, even if it's really just for yours.

I've often wondered how many "good" things that people do are done primarily for selfish reasons... the desire to feel superior, the need to be needed, or such.

All humans need connection for their own well being. Your note is not a negative thing at all. Just remember that they have that same selfish need that you do, so everybody wins.

Thanks. I didn't mean it as a bad thing, but it struck me as apt for my feelings about my family situation. Not to get all vague, but being human is hard. All these emotions... But glad that you can see the positive of it - everybody wins!
