It takes a tremendous amount of courage to go through any sort of psychological therapy. It will definitely help you to reconcile with your past and provide you with insight concerning your behavior, both current and previous. It makes me cringe to read about what you went through as a child. That woman/stepmother/Queen of Evil sounds like a real monster. She could see the beauty and power potential in you as a child, something she never had and never would. So, in order to placate her fragile ego and insecurities, she decided to blatantly attack and abuse a child. Human beings who behave this way truly sicken me. But, like you mentioned, the good and the bad that you’ve experienced in your life has made you the Carrie that you are today, which has led you to your current path.
Don’t ever think of yourself as a “failure,” and know that you’re hardly a disappointment. The various tormentors of your past are the ones who failed, because you survived and transcended what they tried to do to you.
Going through the therapy process will further enable you to heal and gather your strength. All of this is a continuation of the change in your life. You’ll soon discover (if didn’t already know) that you’re a lot more stronger and powerful than what those monsters who raised you wanted you to believe. The courage you’re exhibiting can be applied to other aspects in your life and it should eventually eliminate any remaining vestiges of self-doubt. Your inner instincts are providing you with the right answers as far as what direction you should take, an important fact demonstrated by your recent decisions. There are people out there who will believe in you and what you want to do. I believe in you and I know you can accomplish these things. Persevere Carrie, I have faith in you.
