I hate Facebook. I also use it all the time. This makes me angry on a visceral level simply because it's so... Ubiquitous now. That's where people go to connect. Businesses use it in lieu of buying web pages. People search through it first before doing their own research. They use it as a news source, even though its algorithm is designed to show you primarily what you already want to see. It's done insidious user experiments to tamper with the moods of users without their consent or prior knowledge. I hate it.
I used to love it here. This was where I came to say stuff, for years and years of my life. This was where I hashed things out, had dramas, wrote private posts when I had no one to turn to. And then one day I didn't. There was this great exodus from the old methods of online social connection in favor of something easier, less committal, and less anonymous. I still love it here. I think I prefer writing this way as opposed to a specific set of masses. I really hope writing at length can fulfill the need I only vaguely satisfy while on Facebook.
