thursday and i'm off

there's a huge book sale on right now at unb in their uptown building. the books are fairly new for the most part. anything that's normally 10$ is one, 20$ is two and so on. We bought a huge pile and then i went back for more.
here's the thing; there were also laptops for under $300, software i wanted, and books i wanted to want. this is why I feel a bit more grown up after that sale today: i didn't splurge on a cheap laptop i didn't need (even though i could think of a million reasons to get it), the software wasn't compatible with my computer (an argument that could have reinforced laptop buying), and as far as the books i wanted to want; i am getting used to the idea that i have particular likes and dislikes and both are ok. i can't make myself get into something no matter how great it is if i haven't the inclination. the other big thing is that likes and dislikes change over time. preferences change. growing up is teaching me that.
i'd really still like to learn to play guitar. i might get a ukelele and if i find the time to use it, get a guitar.
an electric one.
i don't spend a lot of time being nostalgic, or for that matter imagining the future, just some. a comfortable amount. i think i am mostly present. that's taken a lot of work.

growing up
