They come here out of greed.

Yeah, every Mexican I've ever worked with at a backbreaking job was greedy. Oh, and lazy...can't forget lazy!

Nevermind that at every factory, warehouse, landscaping, or building job I have had...it was people from Mexico who worked the hardest and complained the least. And we often worked for lazy contractors or mean bosses who sat in an office doing nothing, but getting paid a lot more than we did for doing next to nothing. (I DID work for some contractors who jumped right in, but I worked for a lot more people who didn't do anything, except yell when things weren't going as planned...usually when they didn't provide us with something we needed to do the job.)

smrtgirl ain't so bright. At best, she's clueless.

This nation was built by immigrants and continues being built by immigrants. Smrtgirl would be stunned by how much her life would change if we deported them all...

I'd love seeing her take a crap job most people won't take and trying to survive on the pay she received. Maybe if more people did that, they'd be more supportive about paying a liveable wage and giving people a chance at a better life.

that's so true.

i believe a lot of illegals would do what they could to be legal. if the feds would offer an amnesty program and make agreements with the mexican government, they would comply. i know some break the laws because they know they'll be treated like crap. but the opportunity is too great to pass up.

if the US could invest more money and help mexico clean up some of the napoleonic ways of government in mexico, things could change in less than 10 years. we'd have a stronger partner in the south and thus more security than any wall could claim to provide.

i wish there was a way to fast track immigrants with a work visa in a day or two.

One of the more interesting things to me is when investing in Mexico comes up, some people scream about how we shouldn't help. But these same people, when others say, "We need to stop throwing money at Iraq," often shout about how we need to "help" Iraq and the money is well spent.

Dunno...I look at the money spent over there and think about how much better it could have been spent investing in things here and south of the border.
