The hunt is on!

Okay, now that I'm back from Stratford for at least a week, I'm putting on a concentrated search for a new space for BENT.

The person who rented me my former venue and I will be working together on finding a space. This foreshadows some stuff we're working on toward the Centre for Sexual Diversity over the long term. It's likely going to take a couple of years to get that sorted out.

I'm intending on getting hooked up with the EI-funded Self-Employment Benefit program that is now managed by Employment Ontario. In the meantime, we're planning on what will be needed to put this project together, who to talk to, researching on how to get funding, what spaces might be suitable so we know the budget we're potentially looking at, etc.

For now, my focus is on getting stuff done so I've got a lot of the research and leg-work finished by the time I need it to write up a business plan or some such.

Now that the EI bucks have started depositing, I'm able to budget more carefully and know what I can and can't do with my time and money.

One thing I'm definitely going to continue doing is career counselling and helping others with job searches, especially re-writing resumes, now that they've changed so much in the past five years. Most folks aren't aware that the employers have different expectations these days. Since most employment programs have facilitators who've been counselling longer than 5 years, they may or may not know of these changes.
