Answer: Nice
- Sleeping in until I woke up on my own around 1pm
- Finding what Missy wanted in bitter cold
- Getting everything I needed in one trip
- Stripping the bed
- Flipping the mattress
- Doing all my laundry when nobody else is there
- Laundering my bathmat and small rugs, including the one that's been out on the balcony
- Hanging them to dry so I don't ruin them by putting them in the dryer
- Putting away all the linens
- Making the bed with fresh sheets
- Finding everything I needed to find to pack
- Packing everything for the week
- Taking out my garbage and recycling
- Crossing items off the To Get list, the To Do list and the To Pack lists
- Doing it all at a leisurely pace
I feel accomplished. I feel good about that.
I'm excited about spending a week with my Loves. I know they're equally excited about spending the week with me.
Work is good and getting even more promising for the future as time passes. I expect us to grow a lot this year. I expect to grow a lot as well as a result.
The kitties are with
1handsomedevil and
silveryone, back where they lived before in familiar surroundings and visiting their step-brother kitty, who misses them. They're safe and sound.
Pie is with her family, with her mother's double-lung transplant and her healing process having gone very well. They're out at the family's farm, as usual.
persephoneplace is safe and snug with her family.
neeuqdrazil is back from visiting her family without any casualties as a result.
darkestembrace is visiting her family with the jury out on the potential casualties.
frysteev managed to avoid seeing his family for the holidays. Typical misanthrope.
My mother and I spoke today. I admitted that my first crush was on Scott Baio. (I caught the VH1 reality show on MuchMoreMusic and it reminded me of that fact, which has very likely led to my attraction to the very specific that I'm usually attracted to in men.) My mother jokingly called later to say she was calling from Scott Baio's office. "Press 1 to hear the contents of his 'black book' recited." Very funny. :P
The conversation eventually led to me recalling the last guy my mother ever dated, back in the early 80s. His name was
Arn Saba, a cartoonist. Imagine my surprise when I learned in a random search on Wikipedia that Arn Saba had gone through gender transition in 1993 and is now a woman named Katherine Shannon Collins. WTF?! My mother was amused and said, this juat {sic} proves that despite my clinical skills as a psychologist, when it comes to men, I really haven't got a clue (after all, check out your father). All in all, it is for the best that I remain single.
(She managed to work in a snipe at my father, as she does whenever the subject of men arises.)
After joking around a few minutes on the phone later today, she told me to have a great time in Stratford and tell A&K she says hello. She's off to visit her sister (my aunt) in California with a side trip to Palm Springs.
My sister, her husband and my nephew are spending the week visiting my brother-in-law's family.
My friends are ..... awesome.
I'm looking forward to the downtime and a fresh start when I get back.
