Commenting on fic and art...

And the reason why I never comment on fic and art is....

The writers and artists don't really want to know what you think unless you're kissing their asses. On Ao3 there is a writer. I've read other stuff from her before and I liked it so when she uploaded a new story and it sounded interesting, of course I read it. It started out okay, but the last part, second chapter, whatever you want to call it, sucked. I commented because it seemed terribly unpolished. She never responded, which is whatever. That's not why I'm complaining now. She deleted my comment. I didn't insult her. I merely pointed out that the second chapter wasn't up to snuff, that the premise was good, that the first part was okay, but that her last part wasn't. It was totally rushed, the epilogue was all over the place and the warning tagged character death was one hinted at last sentence. It was like, "What? What was that?" And I said that. I said that I didn't get it.

Comment deleted. And this burns me up.

You want to write, you want to post, then you have to take the critique. Not everything you do will be great. The comments are not there to boost your ego only, they're there to help improve if something doesn't go right.

But no. Comment deleted. Sorry girl, I assure you I am not a troll. I leave my email exactly as it is so that dialogue, if necessary, can happen. But if all you want is some ego boost, then no one can help you. And that's just sad.

Unfortunately, this happens a lot. I rarely comment because I never really know if a critique is truly wanted.
