Eve's portal out wasn't until the next morning, but she was getting her things packed now. Or at least vaguely together, so she wouldn't have to run around the next morning and risk being late

Savannah had been having a better day than evening. No, really. This morning had been really nice with Johnny and then she had a fun brunch with Hinata and Summer. It was a good day.
Then Josef blew that all to hell.
That would be why she was knocking on her mother's hotel room door. They needed to talk like now.
Eve waited until Savannah had taken a seat before she started to talk.
"You know I made my living teaching." It was how she'd supported them... well, that and some of the darker magic. "Well, before you were born, I was mostly teaching defensive magic to prissy little bitch witches whose mothers wanted them to know how to defend themselves. Prissy little bitch witches who took five minutes to cast a successful spell."
She ran her fingers through her hair. "I'd also done some teaching with sorcerers, teaching them witch magic. Not much, because of the whole not getting along thing, but some."
"Yeah." Eve nodded. "He wanted me to teach him. And at first I was like, no fucking way, because this wasn't just some back-alley sorcerer, this was Thomas Nast's elder son and the friggin' heir to the Cabal. But... I did it. And the more often I taught him, the closer we got."
"Yeah, I did." Eve smiled faintly. "God, I didn't want to. He was a sorcerer, for fuck's sake. But he was just so charming... and there was a ruthlessness to him that appealed to me a little, too."
Then Josef blew that all to hell.
