I imagine quite a number of you are taking the gym challenge, but I'm curious as to what reason. Boredom? Some kind of obligation? That it just might lead to a way home?

[L has played many, but the pokemon games were not among them. For whatever reason, he was not aware of them if they existed in his own world.]

[Well - "obsessive completionism" suggested maybe knowing about them, hence the question.]

According to several people the world we're in is in several ways identical to a series of video games, where the objective is to catch and train Pokémon and beat the Gym leaders and subsequently the Elite Four.

Well, suddenly it seems like spending hours of my time wearing out my thumbs on handheld games might not have been such a waste of time, in retrospect. How sad that I made less beneficial decisions.

Puzzle games, mostly. With high stakes and occasionally even skilled opponents.
