Getting to Sesame Street

Jul 29, 2009 12:08

So I put on Sesame Street for the girls on Sunday morning. Sheila doesn't really care for it, but Jillian was interested in it.

I realized I should probably make sure Sheila watches it a bit more often when she said something about the "big yellow duck". She knows her X-Men, but not Big Bird.

Heh. Well, it's great that she's got a head start on comic book geekdom, at any rate. ;)

That's so cute! :)

I'll tell you, with all the other options little kids have for TV now, I don't mind at all that she's missing it, but I don't want her to go to school without the cultural vocabulary. Kind of like how it's tough to go to work without knowing the key people on "American Idol".
Jim Henson was certainly a creative genius, but some of the stuff on seventies-era Sesame Street completely set off my toddler creep-meter. Of course, it's changed some since then. The psychedelic era wasn't kind to kids' TV back then.

I did tell her that Bert was Squidward's grand-dad.

Well, isn't he?! XD
