We're Home...

Mar 30, 2008 01:20

...and all in one piece as of 11:45 tonight... 10:45 Mountain, 9:45 Vancouver time.

My sister helped us bring everything in (after she got to sit in it and poke around, of course) and laughed at us because apparently we were saying the words "Supernatural" and "Impala" with Canadian accents - and didn't even realize it. Yeah. I do now, but I still can't stop. The other way just sounds wrong now.

Two thousand, one hundred and twelve miles. Thirty four hundred kilometers. Four and a half days. Almost forty hours of driving. Beautiful mountains and serene, flat farmland.

We never got pulled over and we never broke down, unless you count the times we ran out of gas, which was quite a few because after a while we turned it into a running bet on how far we could go.

The closer we got to home, the bigger my grin got. I started running my hands on the smooth black paint of the roof and patting the dash, just amazed that the Beast got us all the way home - all the way and never complained. He's a little more worn, sure - the driver door hinge started giving out and the wiring to the taillights started flickering in and out - but inside is a tripping heart steady as a rock.

For anyone who may have wondered whether those old classics on Show could really manage a cross-country road trip... if you ever wondered whether the Impala or John's truck really had the heart to carry those Winchester boys for miles and miles, from job to job, day after day...

THEY DO.

Oh, they do.

Here's a Photobucket dump of all the pictures we took on the way home from Vancouver to Texas. Please feel free to use them however you like.
