"Dean, we just finished a job two hours ago... it's because you don't wanna think about what we talked about."
"So this guy in Nebraska..."
~ Sam and Dean, 4.11
"I can take care of myself, thanks."
"No, you can't! And you know what? You're the only one who thinks you should have to!"
~Sam and Dean, 2.4 -

journal So, the older brother -- not the one who got himself killed in a car wreck, the OTHER one -- was he the one about whom absolutely nobody spoke, not even his mother? And which one of them was the journal about? I mean, were they twins? Did she stop writing once they were born because she killed herself immediately afterwards? ... or were they different ages? Isn't it odd that the diary only mentioned ONE if there was actually TWO created in this whole mess?... oh, holy crap.
WHY IS THERE CONSTANT METAPHORICAL FATHERS FUCKING (OVER) THEIR DAUGHTERS? WHYYY?
"Yes, we're moving out to the country just to ruin your life." AAAAAAAAHHHHH. WAT. NOT.
Having two kids of questionable parentage, until you get to know more about what you're dealing with anyway, are completely sequestered from society, raised in the dark, live in - okay - squalor, hunt in order to protect themselves as well as to exist... yeah THAT doesn't seem familiar, like, AT ALL.

The only thing that was really said about Andy -- the older brother of the family -- was that he "got himself killed" and that he would have believed what his little brother said. WHY was the family so overwrought... not with bitterness toward whatever killed their son, but toward their SON HIMSELF? I mean, isn't that a little... ODD? And that Andy would believe Danny... and that Danny didn't seem to have ANY problem with seeing and talking to strange beings or ghosts and by proxy neither would Andy...
WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?
What kinda ghost messes with a man's wheels?
It's like Scooby Doo, only BETTER.
The boys sure seemed to jump from one hasty conclusion to another. As soon as Dean figured out it wasn't a ghost, he seemed keen on the fact that she was still human... just tossed out the idea of any other possibility like a baby in bathwater. Is there a theme to people living in the walls of their houses that I'm failing to pick up on? Let's see. There's the ghost from No Exit. Is that it?
I think static_pixie might have something there in paragraph 3. *Dean thinky face* Or is it more like The Benders, which is the only other episode I can think of where the monsters were human?
"You hurt my brother and I'll kill you! I WILL KILL YOU ALL!"

AND AND AND. That Dean was SO grossed out and shaken by the fact that they were people? He mentioned it at least three times... was it because of how much grief he's giving himself for becoming an animal under similar "kill or be killed" circumstances? We all, as people, tend to be most disgusted with the things and the habits and characteristics that reflect upon ourselves. Oh, DEAN. :(
Don't be hatin' you guys, but why does that make me think of THIS? (Yes, I am a Shakespeare nut. I see it EVERYWHERE.) Especially right there around 5:18 when Ophelia can no longer compute.
"To my sick soul, as sin's true nature is,
Each toy seems prologue to some great amiss:
So full of artless jealousy is guilt,
It spills, itself in fearing to be spilt."
Yes, that sounds like Dean to me.

Dean enjoyed it. HE ENJOYED IT.
Jesus, Dean. You... what? Like Bloodlust? Like Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things?
Does he think that he was still human at that point? Because I can't imagine him EVER doing that... not as who he is. Not here. Not before. Not now. Never. So he was turning... you know what that makes him? To turn? To react to his environment in an effort to save himself? It makes him human. And he still doesn't see that. He only sees the destruction he was forced to commit. He feels guilty NOW because he REALIZES what he did... and THAT means he is STILL human. *shakes Dean*
Even if you understand -- even if you truly get it the way Sam tries to (and totally does, IMHO) -- what do you say to that? What else can you do but stand there? Dean doesn't want a hug. He wants Sam to save himself and push away, to see the same worthlessness in him that Dean sees in himself. He should know better than to try. Sam's not going anywhere. Right, Sam? ... Sam?
"It doesn't matter how many I save."
THIS IS THE FIRST TIME DEAN HAS SAVED SOMEONE SINCE HE GOT BACK FROM HELL.
No WONDER he was forlorn; he'd been waiting for this moment to see if it would help him to heal... and I'm guessing it didn't. OH, DEAN! *has real tears. no really.*
YES YES YES YES and YES
ALL THAT -- WHAT SHE SAID. AND ALSO
