That would mean he was the boys' Great Uncle.
Ed Campbell would have been... Samuel's brother.
I say 'was' because I believe Sam found out he was dead when they were in Elizabethville, Ohio for the Sin City case.
We don't know that John DIDN'T team up with Ed at some point, though. It IS the family business, after all.
