In Character Information!
CHARACTER NAME;; Sanji
CHARACTER JOURNAL;; blacklegcook
CHARACTER AGE;; 19
FANDOM;; One Piece
TIMELINE;; Manga Chapter 513

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE;;

Coming in at 177 cm, with most of that height in his long legs, Sanji has shortish, blond hair with bangs that always, always fall over his left eye. The left eye is never shown throughout the manga and is considered a One Piece Mystery as is his curly eyebrow. Recent chapters show that the reason Sanji hides half is face is because he has asymmetrical eyebrows. While he's 19 though, you'll only ever see the right side of his face, since that's how it is in canon and it'll be extremely unlikely that he'll ever pull up his bangs or let anyone see the left side of his face. There's a bit of sparse hair on his chin, aiming for a more mature look, no doubt. He's pretty pale with dark, black eyes since the men in One Piece rarely get eye color. On the thumb of his right hand are three small scars he got when he was young peeling apples. He also has hairy legs, like a MAN.~

He's usually always sporting a black suit, the undershirt tends to vary though more often than not it's blue with black lined stripes. Recently he's started to change the color of his tie as well. There's a chain that connects from front to back on his slacks, most likely for a wallet. Now and then he may wear simple clothes, though they tend to be somewhat colorful, like the Hawaiian pink shirt of doom that he wears on Skypiea. Only three times has he ever gone shirtless, one doesn't even fully count since he was mostly bandaged up from surgery on Drum Island after saving Luffy and Nami. He seems to keep himself fairly clothed.

Nine out of ten times a cigarette in his mouth. The brand he smokes is called King Ground and in one of Oda's color walks he also seems to be smoking a pack called Death. He alternates between using matches or a lighter. Due to being a chef of the sea and a chain smoker he smells faintly of seafood and smoke.

He usually stands with hands in his pockets as if bored, but should not be taken lightly since it's not his hands that are his weapons. He's capable of moving his slender form quickly and is still capable of fighting even with his hands tucked in. He rolls up his sleeves when cooking, donning a pink apron while in the kitchen. He has an excellent sense of balance due to the sort of training he received not only as a chef/waiter sorts, but from fighting. Even with less arm strength he can put his body into hand springs and other flexible moves easily.

His face can move into an array of emotions. If he's not particularly upset he's fairly neutral, somewhat social. When around women his face opens up more, becomes brighter and goofy at times. There's more chances of a silly boyish smile. When around people that piss him off, brows furrow, lips curl down in a scowl, sneer, teeth grit, jaws clench and then a choice variety of curses come out. Basically the man wears his heart on his sleeve, yet there's also some things he keeps to himself.

He's capable of being blunt, indifferent, nonchalant, deadpan, sarcastic, and tends to point out people's faults either with a nickname 'shitty-mosshead' or in a rhetorical manner that is part of One Piece humor and does not necessarily have to be answered, yet he can snap in an instant and can be pretty violent doing it. In the One Piece world him kicking the captain or the swordsman isn't a big deal. If anything it's just taken as a way of being much like a family with weird quirks.

ABILITIES;;

Sanji fights in a style that primarily uses his legs. His mentor 'Red Leg' Zeff taught him this, and the style itself is called 'Red Leg' though real fighting and dancing styles inspired it. One of the main inspirations from real life is Brazilian martial art Capoeira, when watched it appears more like a dance that mainly uses the legs. There are also hints of Savate, a French sailor's style that also uses the legs and the hands are to be used only as a means to give added power to the legs.

It's obvious as one watches Sanji fight that he's extremely flexible, capable of bringing his leg fully skywards for a powerful upwards kick amidst other attacks that entail rotating quickly while on his hands for a spinning kick attack that can take down multiple enemies at once. His leg strength is capable of destroying through boulders, walls, buildings in general, and have the power to send things much much much larger than himself, flying. Also if he spins in place on his leg it will literally heat up and become unbearably hot to anyone who it comes in contact with. This strength also makes him extremely quick and agile on his feet and capable of leaping much higher than any average person.

A lot of his attacks are named for whatever part of the body he's attacking, or has some relation to food. He rarely calls them out, but when he does most of them have French names to them. There is one time in which he forsakes his 'no hands rule' when he opposes Wanze, a chef who uses food as part of his fighting style. In this one fight Sanji uses cooking knives against the fight showing a prowess with the sharp blades. The chances of him using this technique again are pretty low since Sanji takes pride in keeping his hands out of fights.

Attack List

STRENGTH/WEAKNESS;;

His leg strength, his cooking abilities, since he's top notch, he's capable of strategical plans, though these are always usually done behind the scenes as I said earlier and Sanji is being a one-man-army of a different sort. He's flexible and quick and finds what's needed for the crew to progress. Weaknesses would be mainly one thing: Women. He can't fight them and even if one tried to kill him, the most he'd do is defend, but Sanji would rather die then hurt a lady, to the point where it's almost like physically impossible for him to do so. He has his moments of stupidity, again this always goes back to women or his own pride tends to get in the way, which cause him to lose his temper for things not worth bothering about.  Recent chapters have also stated that Sanji's bloodtype is extremely rare, it's S rh-. A made up bloodtype no doubt, so the possibility of him bleeding to death is highly possible now. Normally in the real world one would just use O type blood for transfusion, but that doesn't seem to be the case in One Piece. Either because medical technology has yet to take note of this, or because all bloodtypes are nothing like real world types. It's yet to be explained.

PERSONALITY;;

At first glance, Sanji seems refined, suave, calm and collected. For the most part these traits are true, until someone eats all the meat, destroys his kitchen or if perhaps a beautiful lady were to walk across his path. Certain situations can trigger different responses, though his main concerns will always revolve around the food he's preparing, to a woman in need, even if that woman doesn't ask for any help whatsoever. He considers himself a ladies man, while others would look at him as a pervert. There's a code of chivalry that for the most part he follows regardless of his perverted nature and another code when it comes to food.

For a man who chain-smokes like a chimney, Sanji takes cooking quite seriously regardless of burning away at taste buds. When he was young he didn't mind throwing away the leftovers, but after his ordeal Sanji soon learned the value those old chefs had taught him. Never waste food. A concept he takes to heart, which is why he could made anything edible and never leave scraps from any meals he makes for the crew. How serious he is with being a cook shows also in the way he fights, since he refuses to use his hands during battle.

Sanji is also intelligent, when he isn't drooling over women. When it comes to it he tells the situation how it is, and finds solutions to problems in a 'behind the scenes' sort of manner, to the point where the others don't realize his actions until said actions are set in motion and they so happen to be exactly what the crew needed. A good example of that would be during the 'Little Garden Arc' in which the crew thought they'd be stuck on the island and though Sanji was not shown as much during this arc compared to the others; at the end he not only took down two agents from Baroque Works that were following them, but obtained the means to escape the island in one swoop to the surprise of everyone else.

Then of course there's the more temperamental side of Sanji. He doesn't care for people; i.e. men, lacking in manners, though he himself trash talks more often than not, interjecting words like 'shit' and 'shitty' into a lot of things even into people's names. Those who annoy him usually get a black sole heel to their face or other various locations of their anatomy. Once again women are excused from this treatment, because Sanji had been brought up with a strict upbringing to never hurt a lady, which he holds even when confronted with a female enemy.

HISTORY;;

Sanji was born in North Blue and later joined a ship known as the Orbit as an apprentice cook boy. The ship was attacked by the Chef Pirates who followed the greatly know 'Red Leg' Zeff. Attempting to protect the ship, Sanji tried to fight back with two kitchen knives, but was easily thwarted with a powerful kick. A storm was also bombarding the ship with intense waves which swept at the decks and dragged Sanji below the raging sea. Zeff dove down belong to save him, there are two differences here from the manga and anime. In the anime it was while Zeff was saving Sanji from drowning that he lost his right leg, but the canon that will be used shall be the one from the manga.

After Zeff manages to rescue the young Sanji, they end up on a deserted island with what appears to be a giant sack of food. Zeff basically tosses him a measly small sack of food and tells him to wait on the other side of the island, and to not show his face to him until one of them sees help. Sanji is outraged at how he was given such small portions but eventually has no choice but to wait on the other side. It's never really stated the exact amount of time they were stranded. Though it is shown that Sanji scratched against rock to mark the passing of time which could have been anywhere from a couple of weeks to months, possibly. Soon, on his last piece of molded bread, the show of starvation was clear with the appearance of a hollowed out face, and being able to see bones through skin. The last morsel fell from his fingers into the sea, and hunger was causing him to consider things he'd never would. With one kitchen knife still in hand he made his way back towards Zeff, intent on getting the giant sack of 'food' with whatever means necessary. Yet, it was as he slashed into the sack, that horror dawned on his face. There was never food in the giant sack Zeff had, but gold instead that he'd stolen. Of course that meant the small food he was given what was all either of them had, but Zeff had given it all to Sanji. This is were the manga and anime differentiate once more. In the manga the way Zeff survived during that long time was by eating his own right leg (I'll be going with this canon past for Sanji.)

Close to starving to death, Sanji realized he owed his life to the man who had not only rescued him from drowning but also kept him fed. There they both realized they shared the same dream of finding the Legendary Ocean 'All Blue'. Now though, with Zeff's leg keeping him from being a pirate he shares how he'd always wanted to have a restaurant out at sea, which causes Sanji to vow that he'd help him have that restaurant one day. Finally as Zeff was growing wearier a ship could be seen in the distance, which Sanji cried out for in tears and finally they were rescued.

About 9-10 years later we meet Sanji much later in the series on the Baratie, the floating restaurant. This is where Luffy and crew first meet him. At first Luffy tried to obtain Zeff as their chef, only to be declined, afterword when meeting Sanji and finding out he's also a cook he tries to persuade him to join. Sanji also declines the offer, saying he was needed at the Baratie. An chance meeting with a starving pirate named Gin, changes everything when later it's found out he was the commander of known pirate Don Krieg, whom the commander later brings to the restaurant in order to obtain food for all their starving crew-mates. Sanji is of course blamed and yelled at by the other chefs for bringing pirates such as Don Krieg to their establishment. Sanji though, refused to let anyone starve, after his hardships he'd never let another go through what him and Zeff had.

Though food was given to Don Krieg, it was quick to see he was just as vile as first perceived as he proceeded to take over the restaurant. Through the help of Luffy they were able to defeat Don Krieg. Afterward Zeff and the other chefs tell Sanji how he should leave the Baratie. They do so in a somewhat cruel manner that causes Sanji to run outside, slumping down for a smoke only to cry. It's as he's out there that he overhears that they were merely doing it to push Sanji into doing what he should be doing for himself and so that he could finally obtain his dream of finding 'All Blue' than there on the Baratie wasting away. Hearing this, Sanji comes back in cool and composed and tells Luffy he'll go with him. This marked the day that Sanji became one of the Straw Hat Pirates and started his journey towards the Grand Line and All Blue. Not a member for even a moment and already Sanji is caught up in their first adventure: Getting Nami and the Going Merry (The ship) back. They land themselves on Commi Island, ready to question why Nami stole their boat and take her back. It's Sanji's first battle as part of the crew and he shows that not only does he care very deeply for the fairer sex by not believing Nami to be some conniving murderer (When told she killed Usopp), but is willing to protect the men of the crew as well. Such as when defending Zoro against an attack, despite their immediate dislike of one another.

Considering Sanji isn't always in the forefront of story arcs he has small parts throughout that end up helping things move along. In Logue Town him and Zoro teamed up to save Luffy from Buggy's execution. His next major help was passed their meeting with Laboon and Whiskey Peak (cause he was passed out drunk at the time). They gather a temporary crew member while there (Vivi) who tells them about the war in her country, and finally landing on Little Garden.

Here Sanji is separated from the crew, unknowing of the trouble they get into. Instead he's fighting a T-Rex, winning and running across a house made out of wax. Within he meets two Baroque Works (The organization that is brewing war in Vivi's country, Alabasta) members and quickly dispatches them. The Den-den mushi (their means of a communication) rings and it's the leader who is behind the war. Sanji pretends to be a member, telling him not to worry about the straw-hats...That he took care of them.  While there he finds an eternal pose, which is a compass for the Grand line that always points to where ever island it was designed for. Considering their original pose is no longer useful here, the gang is quite amazed when Sanji finally does stumble upon them with exactly what they needed. Thanks to him the crew is on their way.

A sidetrack in the form of Nami becoming deathly ill has them veer towards a snowy island in search of a doctor. Luffy and Sanji climb snowy peaks nearly killed by Lapahns (giant killer rabbits) and an avalanche. Sanji sacrifices himself as it comes down, pushing Luffy and Nami away and telling him to protect her. He's down and out for the count for a while. Here they meet their next crew member and one that Sanji effectively calls their emergency food supply.

Alabasta is coming fast and tension is high between the royal guards and the rebels, all while Crocodile pulls the strings using his title as Shichibukai and hero of the people to hide his true intentions. Part of the crew get caught up in a trap, but Sanji affecting the alias of 'Mr. Prince' tricks Crocodile and manages to infiltrate Rainbase, rescuing the others from getting eaten by a bananawani (A massive crocodile with a strange, banana-shaped growth on its head). Escape now realized the crew is determined to help Vivi. Like the others Sanji pits against one of the major Baroque Works members, the okama(transvestite) Mr. 2 aka Bon Clay. It's a battle and whirl of deadly legs but Sanji comes out on top. When all is down and the dust settles to the final victory they're off again raising their arms in friendship and goodbye, with added cargo in the form of a once-enemy named Nico Robin and the next to join.

Next stop, Skypiea or Sky Island as Luffy enjoys yelling. Long story short, they meet 'God' and his priests.  Sanji, Usopp and Luffy essentially work together to fight one of them Priests, Satori.  Sanji gives the 'killing' blow upon him.  Sanji meets 'God' twice and both times gets the shit electrocuted out of him. The second attack was after Sanji tampers with his flying ship, Maxim, causing it to malfunction. He once again sacrifices himself so that Usopp can get Nami away to safety. A million volts are sent through him and he's got the cheeky nerve to thank 'God' Eneru for lighting his cigarette before finally falling down.

Good thing Luffy kicked 'God's' ass.

Next stop after freeing Skypiea from 'God' and reclaiming it for the rightful one, they're falling down down down back to the Blue Sea and into a game that has nakama being bartered for. The Davy Back games. Sanji's main moment was teaming up with Zoro yet again showing how regardless of their issues with one another they make an excellent team, working together to reclaim back their doctor, Chopper against the cheating opposition in the Groggy Ring game.

Coming up is Water 7 and Ennis Lobby. Robin leaves the group, Sanji, Zoro,  and Luffy get some revenge for what the Franky family did to Usopp, Usopp and Luffy fight seriously with Luffy nearly saying how maybe it would have been better if Usopp hadn't come, which seems to set off a button for Sanji since he kicked Luffy into the wall looking much more pissed than usual for saying something like that. The boat is falling apart, their crew is falling apart and Sanji finds out with Chopper that Robin is choosing to leave. He can't just accept this, not believing Robin to be bad much like he had with Nami.  A darker organization that's part of the World Government are met through this arc, known as Cipher Pol members, aka CP members. While everyone is scrambling about attempting to fight off CP9 and get Robin back in their own way; Sanji found the train that will be taking her off to Ennis Lobby and boards it. Him, Usopp (now Sogeking) and Franky (another semi-ally once enemy) make their way through the train fighting off CP members.  Wanze is one such member, a cook himself and uses ramen as a means to fight.  Here we see that Sanji is quite capable with his hands, though he doesn't normally use them in battle.  His logic is basically if this idiot is using food, then it's alright to use kitchen knives to dice it up.  Despite trying to go up against the major CP9 members and Sanji's kick actually hurting one of them (Blueno), they're still no match and in the end it was Robin herself that stops them.

Once everything is cleared about why Robin was doing what she was doing (which I won't say cause seriously I spoiled enough as is), they all are ready to fight against the World Government to get their 'nakama' back. Sanji has his first fight against a woman and his inability to kick her is his down fall, but he makes up for this later when saving Usopp's life from the CP9 agent, Jyabura.  This is where a bond with Usopp is formed, showing him that everyone has something they can and can't do. This is a battle of mass proportion since all CP9 have the ability of Rokushiki. Which allows them super speed, super strength, the ability to kick off into the air as if they were flying and to make their bodies as strong as steel. Still Sanji is shown capable of keeping up with their speeds and manages to cause them pain even when they use the technique to harden their bodies.

Sanji learns a new technique, a fiery leg by the name of Diable Jambo has this fight won. It's a race against time to free Robin. Marines are swarming and the Buster Call is called bringing with it admirals and enough power to destroy an island. They're surrounded and no means of escape since the Gates of Justice are open letting in the marines. Sanji goes missing during this fight, Luffy is busy back at the tower fighting the strongest CP9 agent, Lucci. Usopp is hearing voices from the sea. Soon Sanji's back telling the others he had something he needed to take care of. They have no means of escaping there's a ton of ships around them, but suddenly the Gates are closing. The whirlpools that usually come with the shutting of the doors have returned and all the larger ships are crashing into one another. It's there you find out that the 'something that needed taking care of', had been Sanji finding the Gates' switch to close them, once more helping the crew without actually being show physically doing it. Their ship being small enough maneuvers to safety and back to a new member, Franky who builds them a new ship after Going Merry is no longer able to go on.

Friendships are patched up and Thriller Bark is the next main event with Zombies, ghosts, two Shichibukai (Gecko Moria, who can control shadows and Bartholomew Kuma, there's also a freaking GIANT Zombie named Oars. (sounds like Ozu)  The whole crew work together to fight that behemoth.  They're all breathing hard and Kuma comes along who has the ability to deflect anything thrown at him. Punches, kicks, you name it he just bounces it right back. Sanji nearly breaks his leg against him in an attempt to save Zoro from getting killed and soon Kuma is just creating this giant paw shaped bomb explosion that knocks them all out.  Zoro is willing to give his own head to save the crew and Sanji is awake now, standing in between Kuma and the swordsman telling the Shichibukai to take his head instead. There's that self sacrificing streak again, but Zoro knocks him out with his sword. When the battle is over Sanji wakes to only find swords and when he comes upon Zoro it's like a sea of blood. When he finds out what happened from two people who saw it, Sanji keeps the information to himself, though a few of the other members know as well. After Zoro finally wakes up, the crew invite Brook, a skeleton swordsman, into their crew. Once more they cast off.

Along the way they meet a mermaid, much to Sanji's delight. Who in turn tends to get caught a lot and this is were we meet Duval. A man who happens to resemble Sanji's poorly drawn wanted poster. Sanji of course takes care of that with a couple of well placed kicks that rearrange the man's face. An old enemy is met here by the name of Hacchi, once a member of Arlong's crew back in Nami's home town. Of course, since he's friends with Caimie things are tentatively resolved.

They set sail again to Sabaody where slave trade exists.. A massive domino effect takes place here. One punch to one of the World Nobles has marines up in arms and fights breaking out. Kuma is back and there's more than just one, but it's the one that counts that's the problem as he targets Zoro once again. Sanji, Usopp, and Brook do everything to stop him but one by one Kuma shows him the other ability he's capable of. Zoro is swatted away into nothing all that's left is empty air. Again Sanji fights hard hurting his leg in the process but not giving up, Brook is next and Sanji is pissed at himself for being unable to do anything as two of his nakama are taken away from him. Usopp follows next in the disappearing act and though Luffy is screaming for Sanji to stop, he doesn't and attacks again before soon, he too, is swatted away into nothing.

SAMPLE RP POST;;

Flying. That was the rushing sensation that came over him. The moment Kuma's paw had struck the world had shifted and now Sanji found his body zipping through the skies, a couple hundred meters above the ocean. His whole body ached; leg possibly broken? The blond couldn't quite be certain, since he couldn't bend to check.

Shit. SHIT SHIT!

He'd been weak, unable to protect his friends when they needed him. Before his eyes he'd watched Zoro, Brook and Usopp vanish in quick succession. What the hell was he doing? Now, now the wind was rushing over him and carrying him away from the crew. Away from Ms. Nami and Miss Robin and everyone. They were still back there, taking on that pacifista bastard and where was he? Gone and headed to who knew where.

It was hard to move, but already he could sense that some blood was soaking through his pant's leg. Tch...Shitty-pain. Time held no meaning during the flight, it could be hours, minutes, or seconds for all the cook cared. All he knew was that he had failed his comrades and he aimed to make it right the moment he landed. If he landed.

Eventually, Sanji succumbed to sleep. If he'd kept his eyes open for just a few moments longer, he'd have caught the way the sky grew dim, ashen and shifted again. It was has if he'd popped in and out from one place to another. This was the moment his body began drop in a slowly descending arc. It was as if Kuma's paw-paw ability knew the man was nearing  land and was adjusting the trajectory for it.

It was a good thing the paw-like bubble that encased him held intact, otherwise this landing would have been an extremely rude awakening. Like a meteor he crashed through tower walls at an angle and straight through a door that was cleanly ripped off and landed beneath him.  The paw-like bubble cushioned his fall, but the same could not be said to the surroundings. The bed, drawers, and door below him; were now dented inwards. It was if a massive force engraved a giant paw around the Blond's prone figure. Strangely, the capsule glass ceiling and floor beneath were not damaged in the least.

A groan escaped his lips, though it wasn't from pain caused in the crash, but in the fact that now Sanji could finally move. His leg didn't care much for this decision, but now wasn't the time to worry about shit like that. His visible eye squeezed, the curled eyebrow furrowed as he forced himself awake. Soon, his vision cleared to see a sky and surroundings he'd never seen before.

"Wh-Where the--" Bits of wood from the drawers fell to the ground as he propped himself up to gain a better view. "Where the hell am I?!" Despite the agony in his legs, he quickly stood up and pressed against the glass throwing shooting glances around the city before him.

"Shit, where did that bastard-Shichibukai send me?" From here there was no indication of the sea, considering how high up he was that wasn't a good at all. If anything, the closer he peered towards the horizon the more it seemed as if the land dropped away into nothingness.

"Tch..." Suddenly a look of realization took over, his hand instantly dove into pockets in search of the vivre card.

SAMPLE JOURNAL POST;;

[Voice/Video/Action]

[Anyone who happens to live on this floor probably heard his 'entrance'. The device slips out while he searched for the vivre card. The first thing to come in view is a bemused looking blond with bangs that fell over one side of his face, an oddly curled eyebrow arched up, while he takes in the new thing he found. He looks a bit battered and scuffed up, but taking it quite well.]

Ehh? What is this shitty-thing?

[The device is flipped around in his hands and then tossed onto the shambles of the bed.]

No time for that. I've got to figure where the hell I am!

[Finally a small piece of what appears to be regular paper can be made out within the crooked video angle. There was a long moment in which he stared at the paper, lip slowly curling downwards as if frustrated with it.]

Shit...not working. Maybe I was sent too far?

[He rubbed at his chin in thought, the words slowly drawled out as he pondered what to do next. Suddenly, his visible eye widens and hands clasp the sides of his head in sheer shock.]

Ms. Nami! Miss Robin! How will I ever find my way back to your radiant beauty now!?!

[...Their 'radiant beauty' isn't what really matters here, but to this love-dork it did.]
