Nine-Eleven 5 years later

Dear Journal,
It’s been a while since I've posted anything.
Today marks the fifth anniversary of Nine-Eleven...

I am at home (today is my day off) watching the "Today" show just as I did five years ago.
I was sitting in my pj's getting ready to go to my teaching classes. I was watching Matt Lauer doing an interview when he was interrupted because plane number 1 hit the Twin Towers. I watched glued to my TV set, dumbfounded at what was transpiring before my very eyes.
The camera on the towers was still rolling film when on my TV screen a second plane came into view and hit the second tower.

It is five years later, and my heart still breaks for those people lost, the people left behind, and the children who never got a chance to meet their parent that was taken from them.
I'm one of the lucky ones.
No one in my family, or friend base, was lost that day.

Yet my heart still breaks when I see the flag of our great nation flying high.
My heart still breaks when I see those tear stained faces on my TV screen,
My heart still breaks when I hear the bagpipes.

I have a great compassion for those people who have holes as big as the sky in their hearts for the people they loved and lost.
