You know their music well. Sunshine on a cloudy day, get ready cause here I come, Papa was a rolling stone. When they crossed over to pop music they recorded “Ole Man River” and “The Impossible Dream”.

They paved the way for many a black entertainer, touring the country riding on buses, sleeping in buses, rehearsing in buses because segregation made it impossible to travel with the most basic comforts. The sang to segregated audiences that were cordoned off based on the color of their skin, but the hits kept coming.
