faith is a life journey

As Rachael and Matt put it- we left Mississippi on Friday to head home but a piece of our hearts are there. And we took a little of the soul, the heart of Mississippi back with us.

Everything I knew, all my boundaries were tested and pushed. I sat listening to the jobs and I thought I was screwed. Between gutting houses and carpentry stuff, I have no skills. and weeding had the whole bug issue. But I gutted a house. I helped carry off a tree that we cut down. I carried lumber with cockroaches and water bugs and beetles and grasshoppers and black widows and mice living under it. I stepped so far out of my comfort zone I was in a whole different place altogether.

And even though my arms are all cut up and my foot is sliced open and I found a cockroach under my pillow and fire ants in my cot which kept collapsing and I sweat through both my tank top and my tee shirt every single day and I smelled and I was sore- it was worth it. I put everything. blood. sweat. tears. and my heart and soul. into this. and I got so much back.

And it's something I'll never forget.
