I dont really go seeking them out, but they do seem to be drawn to me. Whether it be the broken person or the lost and forgotten animal, I seem to have a run in with them all.
If you dont want to read all about a horse, then stop reading now.
There is a horse at my barn named Donagal... not a great name if you ask me. Anyhow, I call him Donno, cause its easier. He is a thoroughbred, arabian cross. Also a stupid mix of horse breeds due to both breeds being high strung and flighty. Anyhow, Cheryl took on Donno, who belonged to her friend in Tenessee. So, hes been around since the fall. Cheryl started workinng with him and riding him and then passed him off to one of her students. Now this girl is a good rider, butu since she has been riding with Cheryl her whole life, she pretty much rides and treats the horses in a similar manner to Cheryl. A few weeks ago, for whatever reason, he probably saw the shadow of a mouse or something, Donagal reared up in the isleway and hit his head on the ceiling. Two weeks later, The girl who rides him could still not get a bridle on him and hadnt ridden him. I finally decide to take an interest in this horse. I get a bridle on him, get on him expecting to be thrown into a wall or something from how I've seen him go, and he is quiet and calm. Cool. Now, Cheryl calls in from out of town and the girl house sitting for cheryl relays the message from me I would like to ride him. Cheryl says no. Fine. Now, last night, Girl who rides Donno comes out cause she knowns I bridled him and she is going to ride him. I am in the arena teaching. Someone comes out to tell me he reared up again and hit his head. and his rider put him back in his stall and had to go to class. Two minutes later, one of the kids comes in to tell me there is blood everywhere. Since kids tend to exaggerate wounds, I went to go look. A gunshot wound to the forehead would have been less messy. Poor thing looked like he stepped out of a slasher film. I get him cleaned up so i can see what he actually did. We'ew talking 3 inches of gaping wound, i think he tried to scalp himself between his ears. Anyhow, call vet and deal with all that. He cant be stictched up without lying him out flat because he was fighting the tranqs so badly. I have a feeling I will be the one to smear outment on his head twice a day because if this other girl could not get a bridle on over his ears, how is she going to get her hand near a gaping wound?
I dont really know where I'm going with all this, except that Donno trusts me for whatever reason, and I seem to get along with him better than everyone else. However, I cannot take on a third horse, so we'll see how it all plays out.
