There are a lot of cruel things in this world... if all you look at is pictures like that, you will see murder. However: what a woman wants to do with her own body (even kill part of it) is her own choice. Every one of those fetus's would have been aborted either because of a miscarriage or because the mother made the choice to. As soon as fat white guys in congress start telling women what to do with their bodies you will see a lot of women dying because of infections when they decided to do a "home abortion."

If you want murder:

I don't think you took a close enough look at those pictures. blackfrazzle March 30 2005, 01:58:21 UTC
ONLY 6% of abortion patients have had the procedure done due to physical health. Yet, 47% are motivated by social acceptance.

We would see a lot LESS deaths occurring if abortions were not legal.. it's possible the small 6% of potential mothers could have died, but in that process thousands upon millions of children could have had a chance to live.

And yes, it is someone else's body. However, if someone decides to have sex, they are also deciding to take risks. If something does occur, like pregnancy, they are ultimately responsible for their actions.

p.s. Just because Bush and I share one common opinion, doesn't mean we share every opinion. I agree with you on the second part of your post, some things that have been/are going on in iraq are absolutely horrible..

I think a common misconception about pro-choice is that we aren't pro-abortion... we are pro-rights. It means that I support what a woman does with her body because its her body. Its a step towards equal rights for women (there is currently nothing that gives women equal rights as men or vice versa). I dont like seeing pictures like that and any pro-choicer will tell you that they dont like seeing pictures like that. I ask you though... what is the alternative? The alternative that I view from these type of movements is one of complete government ownership of the human body.

Sure, i'm pro-rights, the woman has the right to choose whether or not to have sex. The woman has the right to choose whether or not to wear a condom during sex. The woman has the right to choose whether or not to take birth control pills during sex. You're right that women have the right to control what goes on with THEIR body.

When a woman decides what happens to somebody else's body, they have crossed the line and encroached on that other person's right to life. Does anyone ever think to ask the baby whether or not they'd like to live?

Seems like "pro-choice" people would be FOR giving the baby their choice of life or death. It would be hypocritical of them not to do so.

The pictures you put up are an inaccurate depiction of the massive majority of abortion cases.

90% of all abortions occur by the end of the first twelve weeks. Only about 600 (1%) of the 1.5 million abortions each year are performed after twenty-four weeks and only 327 of those are performed after twenty-seven weeks.

Just because you outlaw abortion doesn't mean that you are saving babies... chances are you are hurting everyone involved:

Prior to Roe v. Wade, as many as 5,000 American women died annually as a direct result of unsafe abortions. Today, abortion is one of the most commonly performed clinical procedures in the United States, and the current death rate from abortion at all stages of gestations is 0.6 per 100,000 procedures. This is 11 times safer than childbirth and nearly twice as safe as a penicillin injection.

Annnnnd...

Of the 46 million abortions occurring worldwide each year, 20 million take place in countries where abortion is prohibited by law.

Progress of pregnancy in the first 12 weeks

Weeks 1-4:
The beginnings of nerves, skin, bones, cartilage, muscles, circulatory system, kidneys, sex organs, respiratory and digestive systems, are laid down in the form of layers in the baby's body
Weeks 5-6:
The baby's heart begins to beat
Week 7:
The baby has arms and legs that are clearly visible while lips, tongue, teeth, and lungs begin to form
Week 8:
The baby has all his/her major organs, and starts to kick inside it's mother's stomach
Week 9:
The face starts to develop and the baby's mouth and nose are clearly visible
Week 10-12
The baby forms toe and finger nails and the baby start sucking it's thumb

*Just because most abortions takes place in the first 12 weeks, doesn't mean the baby isn't alive!*

Ah... I do understand what you are saying about very few having health issues involved with the abortion but my point was not in favor of abortions, my point was in favor of a womans right to her own body. I do personally think that a woman who gets pregnant should have the child and dammit if I got someone pregnant now, I would take responsibility for it BUT I do not feel its my right to make everyone have the same view as me. I feel it isn't the place of congress to tell a woman what to do with her body in this case. Call me crazy but I believe in a government that doesnt take the guesswork outta life.

I do not feel its my right to make everyone have the same view as me.

If everyone wanted to steal your car, if everyone wanted to rape one of your family members, or if everyone wanted to kill your best friend, you wouldn't have the right to convince everyone else of your views?

Not matter how you try to numb away the reality that a fetus is actually a life, it comes down to the truth. It IS a life. And dammit, abortion IS murder.

that last one is the worse. the media is so into showing the death of someone just to make it seem like that place is hell. instead of properly taking the body and burying it, they leave it there to put fear. thats bullshit!

That wasn't the media... the media is showing iraq as a video game: when people die they dissapear and are replaced by more faceless people.
