mun2TV talks to Afro-Latino celebs and how the world views being Black & Latino

Stumbled across this 10-min video on mun2TV's YT channel about Afro-Latinos. I like that it includes celebs and regular folks sharing their experiences. Most of what they're talking about may be common knowledge for anyone who's grown up around Afro-Latinos, but there are a few bits that surprised me and made me crack up.

I also think it's great how so many of them speak the truth about how White Latinos react to Afro-Latinos (the YT comments of course are full of drivel saying it's only African-Americans that are the devil and forcing Afro-Latinos to pick a side. SMH.). Judy Reyes is on point about the way her own family treats her sisters differently based on the color of their skin and the texture of their hair.

I do wish they had shined a spotlight on how media throughout Latin America is also just as focused on showcasing only light-brown or "white-looking" Latinos. Hollywood has its problems, but it's not the only entertainment industry catering to those stereotypes of what it means to be Latino. Although I suspect Christina Milian is more than likely losing out on roles because she's a crappy actress, not necessarily because she's too dark to play Latina.
