I'm a political scientist. Of fucking course I knew about Gaddafi before 2009. I knew about Gaddafi as an elementary school student.

Any more bullshit questions you need to ask me? No?

Let's get back to talking about uninformed celebrities throwing money at issues they probably care little about, just so they can have good publicity.

Yeah, I'm saying. It's not like he just showed up on the scene yesterday. At best, he's been funding terrorist attacks around the world for decades. At worst, he's been terrorizing and publicly executing his own people for nigh on 40 years.

But the original article mentioned more artists than Beyonce and Keeni did not refer to Beyonce specifically - she said "these people."

I'm not even a political scientist and I had heard of Gaddafi and his horrors before 2009. And I think if you are a celebrity and an extremely rich person asks you to perform for him privately, you have a responsibility to know who the fuck he is.

+1 If nothing else, your security people are checking out a) you'll get paid and b) you'll get in and out of the venue/country in one piece.

agreed...

i guess it's all about vantage point, though...we could be mad for anyone who performed for president obama for all the U.S. gov's drone strikes in Pakistan but since that's seen as necessary in the court of world opinion, most people don't care.
