art is hard.

so here's another post about art.
art. art. art.

focus.
photography.
what am i doing as a photographer? tonight in my crit the main focus was portraits and landscapes. i'm bored with landscapes and took some interesting portraits. catching friends in their element. tony in a photo shoot with the camera, paige hiding behind her sewing machine and eric at his sound board.
what does this say about me. what does this say about me as a photographer? i like catching people in their element, or the way i see them, focusing on their personal strengths and their main interest, because one of mine is being behind that camera lens.

and then on my walk back to my room i took a minute just to reflect on my movement through photo. it all started middle of sophomore year, 4 years ago, when i got my first camera. and i just experimented, which i continue to do. i always do the beach thing. always go to meg's point. take pictures in the same spots. always with a crooked horizon [not horribly, but always slightly off]. and then there was my close up stage. everything as close to macro as i could get. then the candid.

so where does that really leave me now?
i've always thought of my camera as my way to express to the world how i see things, because isn't that what it's all about?
the main reason i have so much concern about this right now is because ellen mentioned a final project having a theme. what do i want my theme to be.
i want it to be consistent. i want a quality to it that screams my name when you look at it.

how do you force a creation like that?
