garapong walang takip

believing in destiny conceives the idea
that we all have a pair out there.
just as a bottle has its own lid.

on our way to work or to school,
as we drive or ride the train,
we pierce into a throng of people
who might have at one point brushed elbow
with our supposed destined partner.

and during some days when the sky is a bit darker,
you take out your umbrella and stand on that corner
hoping that it's also raining wherever your "someone" is...
hoping that this signifies his nearness,
that from afar, that black umbrella in the crowd is his.

But what if he has taken the cab
before you even got to the stop?
What if he was the person who came in through that door
for whom you yourself opened it for?
What if he was the last person who used the serving spoon
before you had your turn to scoop from the buffet at noon?
What if he's already sitting right beside you,
neither him, nor you, you both don't have a clue.

Lahat tayo naghahanap.
maski sa panaginip naghahangad.
Ngunit hindi parin makita
talagang nakapagtataka.
At wala ng ibang magawa
kaya tayo'y biglang napapatula.
bulok.

But seriously, we tell each other the same story.
You tell me you are looking for her,
I tell you I am looking for him.
But hasn't it ever crossed your mind,
that probably I am yours and you are mine?

Ulk.

Probably you were looking at me.
But though you were looking at me
It’s another person’s face you see.

MISMO.
