So while everyone has been arguing against the $700 billion bailout, the House and Senate snuck behind everyone's back and passed a $600 billion bailout for the auto industry that also provides money to the hurricane victims in the gulf coast area. It also lifts the federal offshore drilling ban.
Now I'm not too upset about the hurricane relief and I actually like lifting the drilling ban, but it's still more corporate welfare for large corporations that are failing. I also don't like tying all of these things together into one bill! Of course George Bush is expected to sign the bill since it's a spending increase. You can read a little information here:
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/27/senate-passes-600-billion-spending-bill/ I can't find a link to the actual bill on thomas.gov. I really wish CNN would post links to them in their stories instead of just giving a very brief summary of them.
