What has our country come to? Impeach a man for getting some outside of his marriage but break real laws and just pardon yourself? How did we get here? How did we allow this to even be attempted without a cry of outrage?

So if it's a war then it follows the laws set down by the Geneva convention. Which means he has already broken laws that this country agreed to in good faith. Laws that we expect others to adhere to because we don't want our men and women treated like we've treated the men and women we've captured in this war. What he is attempting to do is make the courts decision when handed down moot. Your analogy is incorrect. It would be more like if we were playing cards and you cheated, then went and changed the rules in the rule book before anyone with any authority had a chance to say "yeah you cheated".

And the excuses of "It's war", "It's different than any war because we aren't fighting a country" and "These are drastic times and call for drastic measures" are all bullox. Abandoning your principles and and the ideals that this country were founded on IS NOT acceptable because we are facing some hard times. THAT is EXACTLY the time that you have some faith in your values and principles and conduct yourself accordingly. Instead people have blindly let this country become exactly what we have always sent our boys to war to fight against.

What happens when Bush declares war on some group of Americans? He's already laid the fopundation to do just that and have zero repurcussions. That is wrong, that is not what this country has been all about since it's inception.
