The Mission of The Nature Conservancy
The Nature Conservancy's mission is to preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive.
Their Approach
They have developed a strategic, science-based planning process, called Conservation by Design, which helps them identify the highest-priority places-landscapes and seascapes that, if conserved, promise to ensure biodiversity over the long term.
They are also one of the few conservation organizations that cross the line between plant and animal.

Earth First! was named in 1979 in response to a lethargic, compromising, and increasingly corporate environmental community. Earth First! takes a decidedly different tack towards environmental issues. We believe in using all the tools in the tool box, ranging from grassroots organizing and involvement in the legal process to civil disobedience and monkeywrenching.
Earth First! is certainly a much more radical and in your face environmental movement, but then again every movement needs frontline soldiers.
