Another entry
At the MWR again.., spent most of the day so far with an older, whom as far as I can tell, is a russian. He's a U.S. citizen and has a heavy, heavy accent that sounds very much russian to me, though I've not asked him.
He lives in Chicago and has been thinking about buying property there. He's been contracted by the Army as an Arabic translator. I met him by accident at the PX's shoping line as I was thinking of buying an audio cd on the language, as I'm very curious of it and would like to learn a bit of it while I'm here, atleast enough to communicate on some level.
I've enjoyed my talks with him thus far.., interesting man, very contemplative and inteligent, though very layed back and easy going, very easy to talk to, and seems to be very accepting of my presence. He is a bit quiet.., but responds to me. I have the impression he just wants a few easy going friends to talk to in his stay here...
He's not been in the service but he used to be hired also as a translator for teams that would go out and catch the 'bad guys' as he puts it.., he'd be the ones giving the Iraqi's orders that have been captured or whom were being interogated for various things, so he's spoken of some excitement, though never told me in detail what. Had quite a few close encounters with mines and other issues in his times with that.
We both decided to come back to the MWR to jump online.., what his interests are I'm not sure, but the last thing I'm going to do is complain about another excuse to get on the computer hehe.
In any case.., having a quiet but pleasent day, its hot here as it always is in mid - late day.., hot by my standars. Early 80's I'm guessing. I better get used to it.., where I'm going it gets 150 in the summer time.... I figure either I'll die, get sent home for mass beatings, or I'll bail and run back home. All I can say.., is they /better/ not /ever/ let that air conditioner be down or I'm going to be a walking hell that makes satan look like a pansy wuss powder puff boy.
