people don't only go to the big sights! there are hundreds of places in the world i'd like to see and most of them aren't big cities or tourist spots, and i think that's true for most people i know. on the other hand, i've been to the cristo redentor, fallingwater, crater lake, and riomaggiore, and i wouldn't really consider them out of the way, but they were absolutely incredible none the less. i can't even tell you how inspiring these pictures are to me, thanks for finding all of them.

i think my favorite places to visit that aren't hugely popular are the redwood forests in northern california. the avenue of the giants in humboldt redwoods state park and jedediah smith state park especially. the more remote parts of northern california like humboldt county, mendocino county, and trinity county are all really beautiful and i feel lucky that i get to go there so often.

Growing up in Northern California made me kind of unimpressed by the redwood forests but now I have this urge to go back! My family rented a vacation house a few times in the spring up in Mendocino county and it was lovely but I was too young to really appreciate it. I was more concerned with how winding the road was heading up there and how carsick I got! But now I want to go back, so I'll probably head back up and visit Crater Lake as well; it looks beautiful.
