Criminal Minds tonight:

What's up with JJ? She's acting a little weird, shifty. She does not appear to be comfortable working the streets as part of the team/fellow profiler in training. Finding her way back onto the team is not going perfectly smoothly.

Okay, this unsub is mentally challenged, AND has serious anger issues with his brother and/or his brother's relationship with his wife. Hmm.

Uggh, okay I did not need to see that level of graphicness with the torture -- leave it to my imagination based on the recapping by the profilers, their reactions to the crime scene and/or photos, etc. Please. Show has done better in this regard in the past, but sometimes it does go too far for me. This would be one of those times. For example, the scene where the Unsub has his victim, kisses her, and she rejects his "taste". He says he can "fix that" -- and then they show him pouring that acid in her mouth. They could have/should have cut off on his statement that he would "fix it" because the show had already explicitly stated that he was escalating, and we could obviously see what was coming without being shown it.

Oooh, JJ was acting weird because she was picking up on Reid's anger at her. So... where's the anger at Hotch too? Ah, it's personal because he didn't go to Hotch's house "crying for nearly 10 weeks." Is that one of the human, irrational things about how the blame game can be played? Hotch was just as aware of how devastated the team was. Hotch was, and IS, his boss, the guy who gives him his orders every day, who he has to trust to lead the team... and he's got no anger to spare for Hotch, because JJ gets it all? I understand how felt more personal with JJ because he had turned to her as a friend for comfort, but really -- it's interesting that the intellectual guy is leading with such an irrational, emotional response.

Morgan: Just give Reid some time.

A very excellent suggestion. Some things can't be forced. Maybe nudged a little, but a little time is usually necessary to process great shock, and hurt, and a sense of betrayal, and a war of the mind -- the battle between intellectual understanding and true acceptance.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! HOTCH FOR THE FREAKING WIN, pressuring Rossi into a group rebonding cooking session!

Also a very excellent... tempered request. LMAO!!! RED ALERT RED ALERT HOTCH GRIN SPOTTED. MARK IT ON THE CALENDAR. I think I'm grinning as big as Hotch is.

I finally am seeing the balance between the darkness of the ep and the lighter moments of the team working its way to fixing itself. It didn't look like it was going to go there, or get there, but damned if Hotch didn't step up and play Parent to the team. Not such a surprise, but handled in a more fun way than I had anticipated. I am already anticipating the closing scene where the team should be all together teaching Garcia how to cook an Italian meal.

Oh, poor girl. She did the one thing that might get herself killed -- she antagonized the unsub. BUT -- she also fought back. Evil commercial break, I want to know right now if she gets free!!! GRRRR.

Also -- I have finally IDed the guest-star mother as Tracy Mittendorf (sp?) -- guest star on Angel: The Series series premiere, 1.01. I remember her because she really popped for me as a guest-star in that ep.

Poor Tammi, didn't get away yet, obviously traumatized, but she's still alive. So far.

Poor Dad, having to listen to that horror Cy described to him. The actor playing Cy is doing a fantastic job; he's totally creeping me out.

Closing plane quote: "Nothing inspires forgiveness quite like revenge."

No no no Matt, don't watch it. It's not worth it. ARGH!! WHAT DID I SAY????

We're going to do this together, just like a family.

Yes, I was right. It was a beautiful moment, and badly needed to help begin shaking off the horror of the case. Because this was about overcoming the grimness of the case. Revenge only begets more pain. It's not worth it. Let it go, find a way to try forgiving instead of holding onto a need to punish for being caused pain, whatever the reason. Misery may love company, but it's still misery. Better to move on, embrace being a family. So glad Reid made the choice to give forgiveness a chance. It doesn't instantly make everything better, but it's a start.
