I wasn't expecting a new episode yet, but hey, I'll take it. Criminal Minds tonight:

Case in Portland, Oregon? Let's see how well they get the local color.

Hallucinating addict? Hmm. It's almost multiple personality disorder, but he's not becoming different personalities/identities, it's most like his mind is fractured ... ah, there Morgan goes. Paranoid schizo.

Wow, the unsub has an awful mother.

Aww, woobie Reid angsting about his fear of going schizo himself, fear of his family heritage.

Well, they got the rain in Portland right, lol. And that must have been stock footage of the waterfront at night in downtown.

Holy crap, Reid is actually opening up to Morgan. Aww, Morgan is sweetly supportive.

Was that stock footage of the MAX, or a simulated replica of the MAX? Well, that's got to be a bus, not the MAX, there's the cord to pull for signaling your upcoming stop overhead.

"Pretend it's your mom." Ah yes, there's the Mommy issues coming out to play.

Oh ugh, he really went to town with that knife. 71 stab wounds? Yikes. And all just to be able to sleep.

Now we get an explanation for the "fire" comments and the faces of his "companions". It's all connected.

WAIT A MINUTE -- WHAT THE HECK??? In the middle of the chase scene they go to commercial break? Umm... did I miss something? Oddest place ever for a break; this show doesn't usually pace its breaks like that.

Ben wants suicide by cop. Oh this is not going to end happy.

Of course Hotch pulled the trigger. But hey -- it doesn't look like he took a kill shot. Or was that just a flashback to further explore the question of nature vs. nuture regarding his mental illness and murderous tendenies combo? It wasn't really clear. I presume it meant to show that Ben survived but remains uncured even with treatment. But then again... electroshock therapy? In this day and age? Sounds... retro, hence my flashback theory. I dunno. Weird ending. What was up with the editing of this episode?

Not a bad episode, but poor editing.
