I went to visit Tom and his fourth graders at Lottie on Friday. I won't say that he renewed my faith in the American education system, but at least in the idea of teaching. When I was younger, I thought he was a good teacher just because he was cool, the kids liked him, parents liked him, what not. He went to Wayne, like me. He embodies all of the ideals that the college of education tries to instill in it's students. There are all of these expectations that I find absurd and impossible to fulfill but, God damn, he does it, and he does it well.
