anywhere I lay my head

Jeff and I got up early(ish), and because I had to go to the Kitsilano Farmers Market to pick up a little sewing kit I won on a blog giveaway, we decided to have breakfast at Jethro's Fine Grub on Dunbar.

Several of his old coworkers from White Spot work there now, and the food is giant and great.

Jeff had the apple cobbler French toast and actually finished it, which was impressive. Though it was smaller than the pancakes he got last time. Apparently if you manage to finish those they put your photo on the wall, and so far no one has.

I had a regular breakfast of eggs, sausage, and rye toast, but replaced my hash browns with tomatoes.

We headed over to 10th and Larch for the farmers' market, where we bought a chocolate mint plant and a kind of spiced cheese. I was really tempted by these succulents because they were so pretty, but decided not to.

I picked up my sewing kit and we headed downtown to go to Urban Fare for their wine and cheese festival or something like that. We got to taste plenty of delicious cheese and a couple of wines, and many of the cheeses were on special (plus if you spent $35 on cheese you got a $10 gift card) so we bought like 7 and intend to have a port/cheese party sometime before they all expire.

Afterwards we went to Chinatown so Jeff could go to Craftsman Tattoo and make an appointment, but that didn't take as long as we thought so while we waited for the meter to run out, we played around in a nearby park.

A delightful day, but I can't even tell you how much of a struggle it is not to go on a cheese-eating binge right now.

If you maybe want to look at the large versions of the photos, you can view the flickr album here.
