"What do you have for scotch?" "Jeff tried that one already, it didn't work."

Hello Canadian livejournalers,
do not forget to VOTE tomorrow. No excuses. And remember, friends don't let friends vote conservative. :)

In other news, I spent the weekend doing awesome things. Friday was Gogol Bordello and holy crap it was so amazing. I dare anyone to see this band and have a bad time. It's one of the few times I can feel all right about being smashed into by thousands of drunk, sweaty punks/hippies. I got pretty loaded drinking with Val and Sarah at Café Crèpe beforehand, and a bit more at the show. I ran into a hot girl I knew from the internet, Katie, and we kissed some. "Do you have a boy who would be upset about this?" "No, I don't think so... Mike, are you going to be upset about this?"
Sarah and I pushed through the crowd trying to get up close, but she left after a little while to go sit at the table with Steph and Tams. I happened to find Val so we danced (read: jumped around trying not to get hit in any of our piercings) together. Here is a few seconds of crappy video I took during 'Think Locally, Fuck Globally':

Afterwards I went and got a bottle of water and a slice of pizza while waiting for Jeff to come pick me up, and ran into Lauren Dressler! I miss that girl, and being that she lives just on Arbutus now and not in Maple Ridge, I don't know why I don't see her. Anyway, Jeff picked me up and we headed for the border. I passed out in the car, waking up only when Jeff shook me to grab my passport at the border, and when we arrived at the ranch where his dad has the trailer. There was some awkward 3am conversation with his dad, Tony, who was sleeping in a sleeping bag on the pullout bed, while Jeff and I manoevred our crap into the bedroom without turning on the lights. We got into the freezing cold bed and huddled together and fell asleep almost immediately.

In the morning his dad had to go to a meeting before we could leave for Seattle, so Jeff and I wisely passed the time making out and going over to the podunk town of Maple Falls for lattes. The drive to Seattle was okay; I sat up front with Tony and Jeff was forced to sit in the back with the dogs. His suit was pretty much covered in hair by the time we arrived, despite his sitting on a towel. I felt a little self-conscious and underdressed at the wedding, but everyone was nice enough. And, y'know, you can't beat free food and booze, especially when they are delicious.
I was glad that this was not like the times I used to go to weddings with Patrick and people would make jokes asking when they'd be getting invites to our wedding and I'd laugh awkwardly and excuse myself to go to the bathroom or something. Jeff's family seemed more interested in my tattoos and whether or not I liked scotch. I especially liked his uncle Dave, who is a biker and the father of the bride, and apparently had been threatening to show up to the wedding in leather. I fell asleep in the car on the way back, and Jeff, despite driving the whole way home and getting in after 2am, wasn't too tired to fuck me while I was still in my garters and stilettos.

I unfortunately had to work Sunday (Jeff drove me, and in my haste to make it on time after the sex I forgot my phone), but afterwards I had dinner at Joe Fortes with my mom and Jimm. I ate monkfish - there's something satisfying about eating what is essentially a sea monster - and tiramisu for dessert. Came home and the roommates had made an excellent Thanksgiving dinner; we watched Almost Famous and drank rum and ate pumpkin pie.

Today I called in sick to work and Jeff and I slept til noon and had breakfast pie, and turkey dinner for lunch. Then he left to go to his dad's in Quesnel for the week. I would be lonely if I weren't surrounded by people all the time. In the afternoon I went to Val's and watched the Canucks get slaughtered by the Capitals, and then fell asleep on the couch while she and Steph played Rock Band.

Tomorrow I am going to vote, do laundry, study geography, and do math homework. Possibly even in that order.

holidays, sex
