Not giving into terror is important for several reasons - first, and most obviously, it prevents the terrorists from getting what they want. However, by not giving in to terror, it allows us to make more logical and informed decisions, and not make irrational choices thanks to a heightened emotional state. It also allows us to view the decisions our government is trying to make with a more rational eye, and helps to prevent freedom-destroying bills like the Patriot Act from becoming law.
