London 2012

I was lucky enough to ge tickets to the Paralymics for Thursday 6th September (1 day after our 14th wedding anniversary). Hubs wasn't that keen on going but I really wanted to go so we got two tickets for athletics.

We got up at stupic o'clock for the train into London, let me tell you, the Olympic Stadium is freaking enormous!! It kinda takes your breath away to be honest. The Games Makers (volunteers) were fantastic, they totally made your visit so special and they had so much enthusiasm too.

We went to find our seats at 9.30am and I really expected us to be up somewhere near the top, imagine my astonishment when I realised that not only we were down in the stands so to speak but we were 6 rows from the front!!!! We were right by the triple jump and right by some starting blocks too.

The atmosphere was electric, Union flags were everywhere and everyone was smiling. We were incredibly lucky with the weather, it was so sunny and warm. Obviously the crowd went wild for a British athlete but it didn't matter what nationality they were, we bloody cheered them all on.

It's so incredibly hard to put into words just what an amazing experience it was, and how incredibly proud I am to be British, and how in AWE I am at the athletes that we saw, these people are bloody incredible heros, and I'm not ashamed to say that I had a tear in my eye quite a few times during our session.

Britain has every right to be proud of London 2012, it lived up to and surpassed expectations. As Seb Coe said in his speech last night at the closing ceremony. London 2012, Made in Britain :)
