Yeah I need help again. I'm looking for a new computer and want a laptop. What kind of specs should I be looking for?

In "ye olde days", you always did it by the thing of, in order:

(1) What do you want it for?
(2) What software do you need to do that?
(3) Which operating system then to run the software (Mac or PC)
(4) Which model?
(5) How much can you spend?

These days, though, with the price having plummeted, it tends to start with question 5.

I like sony vaio laptops; have been very happy with them; you're unlikely to find one without Vista these days, but I'm a heretic and quite like Vista.

I've got a Sony CR series 14". Very happy with it; no point in telling you the model since it's a couple of months old, therefore almost certainly been updated.

But if you're going for Vista, you'll need at 2Gb of Ram and I'd recommend a minimum of 100Gb hard drive. As for speed, again, I've never been particularly concerned with that simply because Sony Vaios always seem to be fast enough for me.

However, if you're a gamer, you'll definitely need speed to handle that. My own machine is great, but they say in every review that it's absolute crap at 3D gaming...
