at about 6pm yesterday, scott knocks on my bedroom door to tell me that scott, our redneck neighbor with a pot-leaf tattoo on his upper arm, is setting a fire in the alley behind our house right next to a power line. i gotta see this! we walk outside and i see a steady stream of smoke billowing up to the left of our lot. i take a look from behind the wooden gate and see our neighbor shuffling wooden pieces in the somewhat contained fire and hosing the top of the tree down so as not to not catch the tree or power line on fire.
we look in amazement and are concerned. then his wife comes out from behind the house.
(ref: this is the woman that yelled at me and erin to "maintain our yard" about four months ago). and she says, "honey, i love you. i do. but bail money for jail. i don't."
scott and i decide to go investigate. apparently, in the "3 minutes" scott the neighbor wasn't in the alley some "crazy teenagers," not that he would like to generalize, threw a cigarette on some dried twigs and a couch that was on the side of the road. it caught almost instantly aflame! he had called the fire department and they said as long as he had it contained and it wasn't touching the power line or pole they didn't need to come out.
facts learned about our alley:
a crazy pedophile on a wheelchair roams through occasionally.
people do crack back there.
it is a notorious dumpling ground for unwanted furniture, ex: porcelain toilet that the wife, by my suggestion, is going to make into a flower pot.
some woman was assaulted with a knife, to say the least, at one point.
so we go back inside. at about 11pm someone knocks on my door. i am home alone. and after all those stories i am a little scared. it is a woman telling me that there is a fire behind my house. that fire is still going! we go check it out it is very small but the neighbor lady said she was going ot take care of it. some burned twigs and bits of couch wire are left.
