Old habits die HARD...

I'm virtually burnt out on clubbing. Not dancing in and of itself, but the whole meat market atmosphere...the mundanity, the inconsistency, the uncertainty, blah fucking blah....Think I should take an extended vacation. I know, I say this time and again and rarely follow through. Alas, all good things must come to an end. And I suppose it wouldn't ( Read more... )

i worked in clubs for 10 years and i still do from time to time.. i've gone back and forth from loving to hating to being completely indifferent to it so many times that i've lost count.. some of the best memories of my life come from those nights of decadent amplitude but i have to say that overall, i am over it.. i still drop in on the various scenes once in a while to attempt to keep up but for the most part you won't see me @ a club unless i'm being paid to be there.. i do sometimes miss the "everybody knows your name" part of it, but i really really like quiet nights hangin out with my friends a whole lot more.. it's even better on those rare occasions that i have some more intimate company..

Basically, the club is a 'waiting room' till you get a life. Or a place to see and be seen. I like to play dress-up and show off my glamourous duds and dance, for cardiovascular purposes...yeah, right, you say. REally though Ppl come and go, I've found, but for the average person, the shelf life of that scene id generally six months. Minimum. With the occasional drop in..or when you hear of a marriage collapsing, you know beyond a reasonable doubt that they will be back in the damn endless cycle of nothingness ( ... )

at the moment, i can't really say that i dislike the clubs.. i just don't have one that i consider 'home' right now.. i dance like an apoplectic hand puppet, so vinyl and it's ilk are out.. i am bored to tears with hippy blues jam bands, so the crossroads is out.. i like the tip top, but it just doesn't really feel like a place to 'hang out' anymore.. idunno.. i can buy a 6pack and rent a dvd for about the cost of cover charge and two beers - and nobody tells me to stop at 2am and drive my drunkass somewhere else.. no intimacy going on around here lately tho - just hangin' with my buds..

Yeah, I'd have to say that I'm for the most part indifferent to clubs, bars, and everything they stand for. Everyone needs an outlet to mix, mingle, and rendezvous with potential prospects...but I had to turn my notice in when I became wihchild and after even, b/c my fam was blew in the face with my wild,free-spirited nature....I mean, look where it got me. Broke, an unwanted DISASTER, and an unfinished degree. I still party, but I balance my priorities and goof-off time so that the scales don't erupt into chaos ( ... )

I tried calling you last night, but sadly, the usual occurred, so I'm sending you a tape !
Side A is me rambling on about stuff with lots of awkward pauses and plenty of moments where I'm at a loss for words.

Side B is a cover of Dio's "Egypt the chains are on" by German chick vokillist Doro Pesch.
Great song ! Even better cover !

I'm kinda glad you're taking a break from partying. I was worried that ya might fall back into that cycle, and we all know how that ended last time ( what was that Jersey Devils name ?)
Party hard, just not every night !

Well, talk to you later....or never the way things are going !~

luv,
joe
