my dad didn't stop giving me grief about my career choice until i was in my 30s.. and even now he still calls me up once in a while with some job he thinks i should get that has nothing to do with anything i know how to do..
When I moved, one of the things I cleared with him was that my home was NOT to be an extension of his house. And he ASSURED me that I'd be on my own, and he would butt out of my affairs. But it's not HIM I'm worried about wrecking my life... Hey, ya know, if that heifer he's married to lost, say, 50 lbs she could be a plus size model!! Heh, how could I forget yer dad and 'Po Boy Country' pasted across the Nova..and WBXR...I never was so humilated as when my step-dad had that blasting when he dropped me off at school(deliberate)...but I felt a little less isolated when you told me you were a victim of the SAME instance....both our parents shoved religion down our throats and look where it landed us. Dysfunctional marriages and unwanted pregnancies...if they hadn't run such a tight shift....let us off our 'leashes' once in a while....maybe we would've sowed our wild oats in our adolescent years, when it's acceptable....but when is it ever?!
