Simply Complicated

I've fallen through the looking glass
and everything has changed.
Up is right,
left is wrong,
down is just lost
and the world is
simply complicated,
for tonight I had a vision
and this is how it went:
I saw my favorite person
and happily were we met
though "simple" is a stranger here.

Perhaps at first glance
simple may come to mind,
but on further inspection
he becomes the most intriguing
and utterly captivating person
I've ever beheld.

Ever has there been a boy
so caught up in being average
that he became nothing short of
extraordinary?
Quick in thought,
slow to action,
slower still to anger,
he is like no one
I have ever known.

And though flesh is what
he truly is,
it is not his master.
He is trained in the ways
of restraint,
though power be his goal.

He sees nothing more
than an average boy
and I must wonder:
how can that be so?
His thoughts burn always
for something more,
he meets challenges
and strives ever to be better.

His complexity is astounding
for in simplicity is it wrapped.
To see him is to be consumed
for he is an abyss
though he is not menacing.
To meet him on any level
is truly an experience
but to know him
is to have all the
secrets of the universe
hurled at your feet.

He could not be
more simply complicated
or completely amazing.
