I got so distracted in writing this fic that I forgot about Doctor Who, so now I'll have to set up the next viewing to tape.

Dear Duncan,
How are you doing, dearest brother? You are probably not doing as well as I am. Veronica and I having an absolute blast. We might not even come back home. Well, I might not. Veronica keeps whining about how much she misses you. You should be very happy to know that the guys here don’t provide the slightest distraction to her. I, on the other hand, feel differently (don’t tell Logan!).
Italy is wonderful. I have had wine with every meal and, as I stated earlier, the boys are a delight. There was one boy (I really wish I could remember his name but the aforementioned wine did not help me) who took me for a walk around his parent’s garden. He kept telling me how beautiful I was. I think that was because it was the only English word he knew. Rest assured, we found ourselves a new way to communicate. I won’t go into details because I can almost see the pained look on your face as you read this. There are certain details about my life that I know you don’t like to dwell on.
How are things with you? Are you enjoying a stimulating summer of playing gopher boy interning for our state senator? Dad must be so proud. Has he picked out your campaign slogans yet? How about “Donut for Commander in Chief”? Just think, only 16 more years until you’re old enough to run.
I have to go get on the train for France. You really should spend a summer touring Europe someday. It’s totally worth the time, even if Mom has forced us to stop at a few museums for the “cultural experience”. Whatever. See you next month.

My beloved Logan,
I bet you weren’t expecting this from me. Letters have definitely never been a part of our relationship. I figured that this would be an interesting surprise for you. Also, there is something in the following paragraph that I think you would want to have forever, as it is something that surprises even me.
First, let me just say that college is not what I expected. Classes could be worse, and there are plenty of people to get to know. That leads me to my big announcement. There are tons of guys here, from classes to the parties and even in my dorms. I could very easily drop you and pick up someone new every day from here to eternity. But I haven’t. I’ve even had several opportunities to do so, but I have remained loyal to you. I think that I might be becoming mature or something, but maybe they’re just isn’t an explanation. I have one wonderful boyfriend and I have no desire to ruin my relationship with him by becoming involved with someone else (for once). I’m sure that you weren’t expecting something like this. I just wanted to let you know. But do me a favor and don’t tell anyone else. It wouldn’t do me any good to ruin my established reputation just a few months after finishing high school.

Dearest Mother,
I am writing to you with news that you will consider to be tragic. I’m afraid that the grand debutante wedding that you have been planning in your head ever since Logan and I announced that we were engaged will not be happening. And unfortunately for you, it is not because we have broken up. I know that that is one of your greatest hopes, but luck is not with you at the moment. Logan and I got married last night in a small, far-from-tasteful ceremony at one of Las Vegas’ many all-night wedding chapels. We’ve got photos that we’ll send you soon. There’s even bound to be one suitable for the society page of the paper.
Logan and I are now on our way to our honeymoon, which will be taking place at a location I won’t be sharing with you until after we’ve come back.
I will see you when I see you.

Dear Family and Friends,
It has now been three months since I disappeared and I know you are all desperately worried about me. That was the only thing that I let Sheriff Mars say to me. Yes, I have seen Sheriff Mars. I convinced him not to let anyone know that he had seen me. He didn’t like the idea, but when I told him why I left he finally agreed. Don’t be mad at him. It was what I wanted.
If you are reading this, I suppose that I am finally dead. I wanted to tell you all but I didn’t want to deal with the pity. And it probably wasn’t the best idea to run off like I did but making the smartest choice hasn’t always been my strong point. You all know that, though.
The envelope with this has my will and medical records. The hospital has been told to give it all to Logan when he comes to claim my body. (That’s morbid, isn’t it?) I’m sorry that I put you through all that I did. I know you will all miss me (who wouldn’t?) but you’ll move on. I have faith in you all.

Dear Veronica,
Do you remember the car wash for the pep squad when you asked me why I was so happy? I had planned to tell you that night but as you know, other things happened that got in the way. You probably won’t approve of what I’ve done but I suppose it’s a little late for that.
I was sleeping with Aaron Echolls. Yes, that Aaron Echolls. The movie star. The father of my boyfriend. A married man. The murderer. It was a bad idea and I can see that now, but I didn’t realize it at the time. What’s that saying, “Hindsight is 20/20”? I see how true that is now.
I’m not sure why I’m even bothering to tell you this. I know you must have figured it all out at the end when you became the victim. Writing this letter just lets me feel more like I warned you and takes away some of the blame. It was my therapist’s idea. (Now there’s a phrase I never thought I’d use!)
Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of your death. Maybe someday I will be able to sleep without seeing you lying on the side of our pool. It doesn’t seem likely, though.
