So yesterday was the big b'day (I'm not a teenager anymore, the horror!) and it was eerily awesome. I was waiting for the sky to fall down or something. I will now treat you all to a list of why it was awesome.
1. The loot. My presents rocked in a way that they haven't before.
- a stuffed llama (the first name is Lukas after Poldi and the middle name is David because I promised David Wright that if he hit a homerun last night I would name my llama after him and he came through; the significance of this gift will be lost on many people but Melissa is not one of them) and the Battlestar Galactica season 2 soundtrack (incredibly wonderful music) from Laura
- a pretty calendar and a woven Oriental carpet bookmark (which elicited a loud squeal of delight from me when I saw that it was woven in Istanbul; almost no one understood that reaction) from Emily
- The Ultimate Guide to the Greatest Sports Spectacle in the World by Fernando Fiore, The Beatrice Letters by Lemony Snicket (I didn't even know it existed), and a Cooperstown sweatshirt (that is too small because my grandmother always buys me size medium, ignoring my height) from my grandparents
- The End by Lemony Snicket (I am currently 104 pages in), and a Virginia Woolf canvas bag from my family
- Barnes & Noble gift card, from Laura's cousins
2. I saw Laura and Emily for the first time in ages. I wasn't even expecting Emily to come because I thought she was at school but it worked out that she could come.
3. Stef wrote me Stevie/Xabi fic, which I practically begged for but didn't expect, and it is more awesome than you guys can imagine. Way more.
4. The Mets blew out the Cardinals 12-5 last night, tying the series at 2-2.
5. I had to do homework for Women Prose class this morning and it was actually fun because brevity was the point. Then I got to class and wanted to shoot everyone, but things were okay for a while.
6. My mom got me two loaves of cinnamon bread, which means that I will actually eat breakfast for at least the rest of the week.
This post will now come to a sudden and complete stop as I will return to my reading.
